Updating pubs with content

I had to reject your submission updating The Jack Vance Reader because you overwrote the existing title records for the contents. Please read this help page about how to add new content to a publication. Do not modify the existing content records as you will be changing every occurrence of that title in the database. If the content is different use this method about dropping content records and adding new ones. Thanks. MHHutchins 18:35, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

I also had to reject the submission updating Silverberg's The 13th Immortal for the same reason. It would have changed the title of every publication of the novel to "Introduction", changed the type from NOVEL to ESSAY, and the publication date from 1957 to 2004. I think you feel you have to change the first content entry because you want to place the contents in order. You don't have to. If you enter the page number the system will sort out the contents automatically, regardless of how they're entered in the update submission. Thanks. MHHutchins 18:41, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Ghosts and Things - did the merges for you

I went ahead and merged the new titles with the existing titles - quicker for me to do so. You may want to take a look and see that everything is OK.--swfritter 22:36, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Continuum 2

Thanks for the update to this printing of the title. I made a few changes in your submission. 1) Changed the publication date back to 0000-00-00. This second printing wasn't dated (the first was June 1975). 2) Moved the catalog number to the notes field. The ISBN/Catalog number field can only contain one or the other. If the ISBN exists it gets priority and the catalog number goes in the notes. Thanks. MHHutchins 20:39, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Nebula Awards Four

I making several changes to your verified pub NASF1971. I have submitted an unmerge of the title in order to make it a variant title ("Nebula Award Stories Four" vs. "Nebula Award Stories 4"). I'll also be adding a cover image. Thanks--Rtrace 13:13, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

I found more things to do with this one. There was a duplicate record that had the individual "In Memoriam" essays. I've copied those over so that the duplicate could be deleted. Also, I corrected the title to "Nebula Award Stories Four". Thanks again. --Rtrace 11:37, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

I added a cover image to your verified pub NTCHDBHMNH1967 Thanks. --Rtrace 03:51, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Night's Yawning Peal

I accepted your submission updating this pub but had to add the pound sign (#) before the catalog number. This is standard ISFDB practice for non-ISBN publications. For further information see ISBN / Catalog # at this link. Thanks. MHHutchins 20:01, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Man in the High Castle

[This] SFBC edition shows a catalog # of 618. If the gutter code is correct, then the book can't have a catalog # as the SFBC didn't start using them until September 1968, plus never used less than four digits. Could you please check this #? Thanks. ~Bill, --Bluesman 14:19, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

I rechecked my SFBC copy of Man in the High Castle and, as expected, it has no catalog #. I should of removed the catalog number BEFORE submitting the primary verification. Thank you for the comment. Paul User:Cayer1886 07 Sept 2009

Swords and Deviltry introduction question

In working with my copy of the November 1973 (2nd) printing of Swords and Deviltry, I see the Author's Introduction (Swords and Deviltry) is dated 1970. But in my copy, that introduction is signed "Fritz Leiber, San Francisco, June 4, 1973". So I'm thinking it can't be 1970. Does your verified 4th printing by any chance say the same thing? Thanks. --MartyD 10:35, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

I changed the date to 1973-11-00, the date of the 2nd printing. If your copy suggests something different, let me know. --MartyD 11:24, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
I have two copies of Swords Against Deviltry. They are the 1st printing ($.75 cover price and has a spine number 441-79170-075) and the 4th printing ($1.50 cover price and spine number of 441-79173-150). The author’s introduction was omitted in the 1st printing. In the 4th printing it is signed exactly as you stated in the 2nd printing: Fritz Leiber, San Francisco, June 4, 1973” Hope this helps you. Wiki stuff

If you sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) the wiki software will convert this to a link to your user page, and a timestamps, or if you set your signature in your wiki preferences, to your signature plus a timestamps.

It is usual to indent responses by preceding each paragraph with one or more colons

like this for a first response
and like this for a second.

See Help:Editing and Help:Wiki Conventions for more information. I hope this is helpful. -DES Talk 00:43, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Night's Yawning Peal

I added an OCLC number and a note to your verified pub. Could you please double check the spelling of the author of "Mr George" and confirm with User:ChanurBe? Thank you. -DES Talk 19:01, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

I've got the other verified pub of this title and have begun correcting my pub. If yours is by "Stephen Grendon" as I suspect it it, we should probably go ahead and correct the title (or merge it with the proper one. Thanks. ~Ron --Rtrace 00:27, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
