Unfortunately, I had to reject [http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/view_submission.cgi?4965140 this submission]. We limit new publications to those under 90 days out normally (and in COVID, more like 30 days due to all the publishing delays). Five months away is too far. We have found that publishing details change often between announcements and actual publication. For this reason, we hold off until things are more firm. Welcome!

Hello, Brofitable, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! --MartyD 22:22, 7 August 2017 (EDT)

Brobots questions

Hi, and welcome.

Thank you very much, Marty! It's great to be here.

I have a couple of minor questions about your submissions for the two Brobots books, which I have on hold but will accept after I iron out these details with you.

For book #1:

  • Is it safe to assume from the $12.90 price and 2016-12-09 date that you intend for this to be the paperback edition? (The submission has the binding as "unknown").
Yes. Should I do separate entries, one for each format? I didn't realise.
  • Your submission gives the page count as 300, but Amazon's Look Inside shows through a page numbered 349. We go with the last numbered page (unless content appears beyond that). In the physical copy of the book, is the last page 300 or something else?
My mistake. It should be 349 (actually the physical print copy is 350).

For book #2:

  • Amazon only lists the Kindle edition, and only with a pre-order price of $7.98. Do you intend this entry to be for the paperback edition (this submission also has the binding as "unknown"), and is the $12.90 price fairly certain?
Self-published authors can't do pre-orders on paperback, but the paperback will be on Amazon from publication day. So yes this is for the paperback and the price is certain.
Please advise if I should create two additional entries for the ebooks?

Also, neither submission has the cover artist (responsible for the drawing, not the lettering). I see "Jacket design 'Emotional Uprising' by the author" for the Brobots cover. If that's for the drawing artwork -- versus the layout -- we'd like to capture it.

Yes, I made the covers too.

You can reply to these questions by editing this section. Indent your response by adding a colon at the beginning of each block of text (one colon per indentation level). We keep questions and answers all in one place to make it easier to follow conversations, so I'll be watching for your response. Thanks, and thank you for contributing. --MartyD 22:55, 7 August 2017 (EDT)

Great. Thanks for all the information. I accepted both submissions, set the bindings, and I added cover art credit while I was at it. Here are links to Brobots and Red Gods Sing. And with them came a Trevor Barton entry that you can augment as you deem appropriate. :-)
As for your question about creating ebook entries, yes, please do. We try to capture every publication of every work (down to multiple editions of the same publication). Rather than entering all editions at once, it's easiest to one -- as you have here -- and then "clone" the result. Saves on data entry and the need to merge titles. If you follow those links I gave you above, you'll see "Clone This Pub" in the Editing Tools section. That will start you off with a new publication copied from the one you're cloning, and all you have to do is modify the fields whose values are different. Give it a try. If you need any help, just ask. --MartyD 20:56, 8 August 2017 (EDT)
Hello, I've taken the liberty to revert your edit. We usually do not delete what's on talk pages, even if the thread is seemingly finished. This may prove useful later. Hauck 14:07, 9 August 2017 (EDT)

Trevor Barton

As trevorbarton.co.uk is not a supported site for image linking, I have used the same picture from Amazon instead. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:42, 11 July 2020 (EDT)
