Welcome!

Hello, Blyoung, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 23:42, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Updating pub records to add uploaded image

Now that the image for the Del Rey edition of Cyborg has been uploaded to the ISFDB, you'll need to update the publication record to add a link to it. Go to the link for the pub record that I gave here and choose "Edit This Pub" in the editing tools menu. From the edit window add the URL of the image in the field labeled "Image URL" (you can copy the URL of the image from your browser's window using the first link above). Then submit. I linked the image before I found this message. The cover has a $2.25 price which would be consistent for a first printing Canadian issue. The US printings for 1978, if $1.95 have an identical Canadian printing of $2.25. The second edition is price $2.95. I cloned the above pub and made it the $1.95, then changed the original to C$2.25 and a 1st printing Canada. A little bit confusing, but all should be correct now. One quest I have for the submitter is, does his copy say "Printed in Canada" on the copy right page. In some cases I have two 1st printing both printed in the US but one is US priced and the other Canadian.Kraang 01:35, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Yes... you are correct. The copyright page on my edition of Cyborg definitely does say "PRINTED IN CANADA"

Thanks.

Uploading images

The URL you pasted into the Day of the Triffids isn't the correct one to actually display the image in the record. Once you have uploaded the image and can see on the upload page, click on the image. It will then be displayed all by itself on an otherwise blank page. The URL of that page is the one you need to copy/paste into the field of the pub record. Counterintuitive but that's the way the software works. I've fixed this one. Thanks for editing! ~Bill, --Bluesman 04:59, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Notifing verifiers

When you add a cover image, or other information, to a primary verified publication -- as you did with Slow Fall to Dawn, Dance of the Hag, and Swords and Deviltry -- please notify the verifier(s), so that they can check if the cover matches their copies. See Help: How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs for more detail. Thank you for your contributions. -DES Talk 23:41, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Mechanics

To add a new section, click the "+" button near the top of a wiki page, or when editing add the section title ==Surrounded by paired equals signs==.

Please sign all comments on talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). The wiki software will convert this into your User name (or custom signature if you have set one in the preferences) and a timestamp. The signature tool (2nd from the left just above the edit box) will insert this code for you. ---DES Talk 13:22, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
