Checking our secondary sources for Conan the Adventurer per this discussion, I discovered that we had the verifications for the 1966 printing on the copy we both have which is from 1967.  I've removed the ones I had added, but Currey and Contento are yours.  Of course, these should all go back on the 1966 publication record after it is created.  Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 13:03, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Can you confirm that the retail edition's ISBN is not present in your copy of this publication? I'm holding a submission from another editor who has a copy with the ISBN from the Bantam Spectra retail edition: 0-553-07261-7. There's a note in your record that it lacks an ISBN. Thanks for checking. Mhhutchins 02:37, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

: Definitely no ISBN. This was probably printed by the SFBC a few times and they didn't change the BC# in the 90s like previous decades [looked at the edit, bad form on the ISBN SFBC # combo ... rookies!! ;-)))].  Perhaps the note should be amended to say that 'some' later SFBC printings do have an ISBN?? The notes are definitely a holdover from a Locus1 entry, and they likely would have received their review copy when first printed.  --~ Bill, Bluesman 04:20, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

::Sounds like a plan. I'll inform the editor, and update the Note to say that some later printings included the retail ISBN. Thanks. Mhhutchins 17:41, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

I changed the publisher of your verified publication from "Hodder and Stoughton" to "Hodder & Stoughton", since this was the only book listed this way, compared to 981 listed as published by "Hodder & Stoughton". Chavey 17:38, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

: Just checked and the publisher is still Hodder and Stoughton, which is exactly as spelled on the title page, regardless of 981 or 9,810 that are otherwise. Regularization for its own sake is the kind of bibliographic BS that Locus does, and we've been correcting such [from that source] for years. To automatically 'correct' an unverified record, or one from an editor no longer active [standards do change] is one thing but this [as-yet non-] correction is presumptuous at best. --~ Bill, Bluesman 00:49, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

I'm trying to match Finlay illustrations in art books with the original illustrations in magazines.  In If, March 1968, the current entry shows two illustrations by Finlay for the story "Sunbeam Caress".  The other active verifier says his copy is missing some pages.  Can you tell me if there is a Finlay illustration for that story that shows sharp black forms amid clouds, and if so, where that illustration is? == "In the Land of the Unblind", by Judith Merril ==

While verifying a book of mine that contained "In the Land of Unblind", I noticed that it was a poem, and not the "Short Fiction" that we currently have it listed as. I checked it with another book I have that contains that title, and verified that it was a poem there as well. An essay in Galactic Central refers to it as a poem, and Judith Merril's daughter lists it as a poem in her bibliography of Merril's work. So unless someone knows a reason otherwise, I'll be changing that work to a poem in a couple of days. Since this affects a content item in 7 different verified publications, including two of yours, one here and one here, I am asking those verifiers to post any comments about this change on my talk page (to keep any such comments together). Hi. I reviewed your primary verified The 1982 Annual World's Best SF. Since PV1 is inactive, as PV2 I come to you. The only discrepancy I found was with the page count. The record shows 'xii' for the Roman numeral portion of the count, but in the pub the highest paginated is 'ix'. The guideline states: "For example, a book with a page count field of 'viii+320' has 'viii' as the highest numbered page with a Roman numeral. (Note that there are no spaces in the page count.) Pages without numbers that fall between the two types of page numbering can be ignored."... I'm thinking the count should be 'ix+273' instead of 'xii+273'. Would you concur? ::If you mean the Cowley book then I'm probably not quite getting where your confusion arises unless you thought I was referencing the story as opposed to the cover art. Almost all the images that appear in the four Terran Trade Authority books by Cowley appear as book covers hence it will almost certainly be cited on multiple occasions. --Mavmaramis 13:42, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

As the Curtain Falls art credit
Hi. Is the art credit really supposed to look like this in this pub ? Or is it one of those ISFDB subtleties I don't know about yet ? Thanks. Linguist 08:24, 9 June 2015 (UTC).

: There's a 'subtlety' there all right, just not a good one. At some point there was a brief combining of cover artists whose names were always used together; Leo & Diane Dillon, The Brothers Hildebrandt which plays havoc when one tries to give each a separate entry, as either has been listed as a pseudonym for both. The only way to correct it is to delete all cover artist credits and enter each one separately. Problem is now there will be two separate artists credited [as in this case there should be] and some other editor may again combine them at the author level since the two separate records will look like 'strays'. This record is fixed, for now. --~ Bill, Bluesman 15:21, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Garry Kilworth's "Triptych" in Other Edens
A question about your verified Other Edens. Does the introductory essay explain why the three Kilworth stories are called "Triptych"? I have them in In the Country of Tattooed Men, where they also appear as a "triptych" although at least two of them have appeared separately. Scanning the text, I see that they are pretty much unrelated except for the fact they are all rather surrealistic and could conceivably be set in the same universe. The introduction in In the Country of Tattooed Men is short and doesn't say anything about individual stories, but I wonder if perhaps the introduction in Other Edens may be more helpful. If there is indication that they are set in the same world, perhaps we could enter them as three separate titles and create a series. Ahasuerus 16:18, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

: Alas, no. The stories/whatever they are, are not mentioned at all in the Introduction. == Smith's "The City of the Singing Flame" ==

I was reading the story notes for the Night Shade edition of Clark Ashton Smith's stories and I discovered that there are multiple versions of his story "The City of the Singing Flame".  It appears that it when it was published in the Spring 1940 issue of Tales of Wonder, the editor combined the story with its sequel "Beyond the Singing Flame" by altering some of Smith's prose and adding a bridging paragraph.  Further, when Smith was preparing Out of Space and Time, he was unable to locate either his carbon or a copy of the original Wonder Stories appearance of the tale and instead sent along tear sheets from Tales of Wonder containing the combined story.  I have compared the two versions from the Night Shade collection which contains the original story and the Bison reprint of Out of Space and Time which contains the combined story.  The former ends with "Tomorrow, I shall return to the city." Whereas the combined version ends with "And there, at length, we came once more to the greyish-green columns that were the gateway between worlds."  I have corrected my copy of Out of Space and Time as well as the unverified copies.  You have volume 1 of the Panther reprint which probably needs the same correction.  I'll also leave a note on the other active verifiers page pointing them here.  Thanks.  --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 02:27, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

The Mayflower-Dell 1966 edition of The Other Side of the Moon also has this combined version also as "The City of the Singing Flame" but is not divided into segemtnts. The price of my hardcover is the same as you noted for the tp.  I thought I should check with you to be sure your pub is indeed a tp.  And, of course, to let you know that I will copy the interiorart credits I've entered for my pub into your pub if you wish. When you get a chance, could you please review this discussion? The proposal basically boils down to changing the behavior of the Summary Bibliography when the viewing user is not logged in. Currently only English translations are displayed for unauthenticated users. The proposal would change it to displaying all translations. The downside is that the Summary page could get longer and harder to navigate.

The Drought - pub note amendment?
The copyright page of my copy of this book states "Published in Penguin Books 1968. Reprinted in 1974" This is in conflict with the pub note shown which states ""Reprinted 1971"; month from <I>here</I>". The <I>here</I> link goes to the book listing on <I>The Art of Penguin Science Fiction</I> website; <a href="http://www.penguinsciencefiction.org/19.html#2753"></a>, which shows the same reprint year as my book, 1974, and the month, April. Worldcat also only shows 1974 listings, not 1971. My book is identical to the listing (pub record #120181) in every other way shown.

This seems to suggest that the 1971 date shown is a misprint/mistake. Assuming that is so, and in view of PV1 BLongley's passing, and the resignation of the PV2 Dragoondelight, as PV3 what would you say is the right way to deal with this?
