Welcome!

Hello, Bicufo, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!.--Dirk P Broer 15:44, 2 January 2020 (EST)

La dama número trece

A few small changes for this one:

  • As it is a Spanish book, published by a Spanish publisher, I changed the price and the sourcing Amazon to the Spanish versions.
  • For ebooks, we do not use the Pages field - instead we add a note.

I also rejected all the duplicates you added (by mistake?). The result is here. Let me know if you have any questions. Annie 22:08, 5 March 2022 (EST)

Adding translations

Hello,

As we are a publication based DB, the preferred way is to add the book and then connect it. If you just add an empty variant, it will be deleted based on the nightly cleanup reports if you do not add a book to it before it gets flagged as an empty title. So I rejected this one - instead add the novel using New Novel and then once created, we will connect the English and Spanish versions. Let me know if you have any questions. The Discovery of Heaven & Mao II

Regarding this submission & this submission: From their summaries, neither of these seem be overtly speculative fiction (science fiction, fantasy, supernatural horror). Can you please confirm? Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 10:22, 17 September 2022 (EDT)

For Mao II, I added it because there were already several editions present on the database, and I just wanted to add the latest one. I haven't read the book, so I was assuming that if it was already accepted, it counted as speculative fiction. If it's not, then I'll take the submission down. The Discovery of Heaven, however, does fall into speculative fiction, at least in my opinion. Admittedly, it's more magical realism than straight fantasy, but there are fantastical elements in the story (part of the story involves angels interfering in the affairs of two men). If you have any other questions or comments, feel free to let me know -- Bicufo (talk) 12:53, 18 September 2022 (EDT)
Okay, I have approved both. For The Discovery of Heaven, I changed:
  • The ISBN13 to ISBN10 based on the date. We use the format that is on the pub. If you actually have a later printing with the ISBN13, then we would need to update this to be that later printing and create another record for the 1997 printing.
  • The format from pb (paperback) to tp (trade paperback) based on the Amazon dimensions. The ISFDB uses a specific set of values.
Let me know if any updates are needed. Thanks for submitting these. -- JLaTondre (talk) 13:27, 18 September 2022 (EDT)
