Welcome!

Hello, ASG, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! MagicUnk 13:28, 6 September 2021 (EDT)

The Circle in the Sphere

Alex, your submission of The Circle in the Sphere was correctly done, and I approved it. It would be nice to have a price, if you know one. Also a cover scan; Amazon permits us to use their scans, as do a few other on-line sources. I scan my own pubs, height limited to 600 pixels. Welcome aboard! Bob 15:09, 3 August 2021 (EDT)

Hey Bob, thanks! I just uploaded the cover. I would have done so when I submitted the original data, but I couldn't see a way to do it from the submission form, which is a shame. Would have been much simpler. As for the price field, I thought it was just for the 'cover price'? And since there is none printed on the cover, I left it blank. That said, in this particular case, it is a free ebook, so price would be 0 ;)
On a side note, since we're talking, how would I add a short story to the DB? I mean by that, one that isn't part of a specific publication (magazine/anthology/etc.) For instance, is there a way to add a short that was published independently online (on a blog or something of the sort)? Would you mark it also as a chapbook, or is it just not something that would have its place on ISFDB? Inquiring minds want to know ;) ~~ ASG 01:52, 8 August 2021 (EDT)
Cover images can only be added after the pub is created. This is a result of using the wiki for images which is separate from the database.
For free books, please add $0.00 as that indicates it is free vs. no price means the price is not known.
For web content, we allow webzines (groupings of stories with defined issues), but not stories on blogs or websites. Sometimes the border between those is fuzzy. You can always post the specific case at ISFDB:Community Portal and get feedback on if it should be included or not. -- JLaTondre (talk) 08:40, 25 December 2021 (EST)

The Wound Within, the Wound Without

I accepted your addition of The Wound Within, the Wound Without, but made the following changes:

  • Price: Prices need to include the currency symbol (we are an international database so deal in multiple currencies) and the decimal portion.
  • Chapbook Contents: Chapterbooks are a special type here. You need to add the shortfiction content manually.

We appreciate your submission & hope you will continue to contribute. ISFDB has some conventions that need learning so please check out the help links in the welcome message above. And let us know if you have any questions (ISFDB:Help desk is a good resource for asking). -- JLaTondre (talk) 08:34, 25 December 2021 (EST)
