The Orion Publishing Group was founded in 1991 and soon bought Template:Publisher, thus acquiring the imprints Template:Publisher and Template:Publisher Paperbacks. Orion Children’s Books founded 1992 includes JM Dent’s Children's List.
The Orion Paperback Division was launched in 1993.
In December 1998 the group acquired Template:Publisher, and thus the Template:Publisher imprints.
In 1998, Hachette Livre bought a majority of the share capital and in 2003 Hachette Livre became the sole owner of the group.
In January 2002 Hachette Livre bought the Template:Publisher Publishing Group and the illustrated imprints of Cassell & Co were transferred to the Octopus Group.
