British publishing company founded by Paul Hamlyn in 1950, although didn't publish much SF till the second half of the 1970s. Mostly paperbacks, but did some hardcover reference works too. Now part of the Octopus Publishing Group, owned by Hachette Livre.

Usual ISBN prefix 0600, but also shares the 00993 prefix with Arrow and Legend.

On 31st January 1992, the trademark was assigned in full from The Hamlyn Publishing Group Limited, Orbit House, 9 New Fetter Lane, London, EC4A 1AR.
