The import content page allows you to perform one of two separate operations.

Option 1: Import content of another publication

"Option 1" at the top of this Web page lets you import the content of another publication into the currently selected one. Use the following steps:

  1. Find the ID of the publication that you want to import the content from.
  2. Enter the publication ID in the field labeled "Import From". You can also enter the URL of the publication.
  3. If the content titles in the two publications have the same page numbers, check the "Include page numbers?" check-box.
  4. Click on the "Import Content" button.
  5. Once the next page appears, optionally enter additional titles, reviews or interviews as necessary.
  6. Add or correct page numbers for each Content record.

The primary purpose of this tool is to allow copying the contents of a collection/anthology publication into another collection/anthology publication. Keep the following in mind when using this tool:

  • Unlike "Clone Publication", this tool also allows you to import magazine or fanzine contents into another magazine/fanzine publication.
  • This tool adds the content to whatever existing content may be already present. It doesn't affect any titles that are already in the publication.
  • This tool copies all titles from one publication to another (COVERART and INTERIORART titles can be optionally skipped as per the instructions above.) You will not be able to selectively delete titles during the import process. If you need to remove some of the added titles, e.g. if two different editions of a collection have different introductions, wait for the submission to be approved and then use the "Remove Titles from This Pub" tool.
  • If some of the to-be-imported titles already exist in the publication that you are importing them into, they will be skipped by the import process.
  • All imported titles will be automatically merged with existing titles. However, if you add additional Content items on the second page, they will not be automatically merged. Wait for the submission to be approved and then use the Merge Titles tool to merge any duplicates.

Option 2: Import Individual Titles

"Option 2" at the bottom of this Web page lets you import individual titles into the currently selected publication. Use the following steps:

  1. Find the ID of the title that you want to import.
  2. Enter the found ID into the field labeled "Title 1". You can also enter the full URL of the title instead of the title ID.
  3. If you need to import additional titles, click on the "+" button next to the word "Title 1". A new "Title" field be displayed. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for as many titles as you want to import.
  4. Click on the "Import Content" button.
  5. Once the next page appears, optionally enter additional titles, reviews or interviews as necessary.
  6. If known, add page numbers for each added title.

Keep the following in mind when using this tool:

  • If you enter the same title number multiple times, it will only be imported once.
  • This tool adds the content to whatever existing content may be already present. It doesn't affect any titles which are already in the publication.
  • All imported titles will be automatically merged with existing titles. However, if you add additional Content items on the second page, they will not be automatically merged. Wait for the submission to be approved and then use the Merge Titles tool to merge any duplicates.
