This Web page displays detailed data for one award record. It can be accessed from the following pages:

  • The Title page when the Title record has associated award records
  • The Award Bibliography page for an author
  • The Year-specific Award page

The following fields are displayed on this page:

  • Title: The title of the ISFDB title record associated with this award. If this award record is not associated with an ISFDB title record, then this field contains a description of the award, e.g. Analog Science Fiction and Fact, "Terminator 2" or untitled.
  • Author: The author(s) of the title associated with this award. If this award is not associated with an ISFDB title record, then it contains the name(s) of the person(s) who was given this award (recipients of lifetime achievement awards, directors of award-winning movies, etc.)
  • Year: This is the year of the award. It can be somewhat contentious; sometimes the year of eligibility is used, and in other cases the year the award is handed out is used.
  • Award Name: This is the type of the award, e.g. Hugo or Nebula.
  • Category: This is the title of the award, such as "Best Novel", or "Best SF Novel", or "Best Novelette". When the awards are displayed for a particular year (say 1993 Hugo Award), they will be grouped according to categories. Note the categories within a particular award (like the Hugos) may officially differ from year to year.
  • Award Level: ISFDB supports two types of awards: those with winners and nominees (such as the Hugo awards) and those with enumerated poll numbers (such as the Locus Poll). For nominee-type awards, the valid values in this field are Nomination or Win. For poll-type awards, the valid values are the award rankings in the 1 through 70 range. In addition, ISFDB recognizes "special" award levels, e.g. withdrawn and preliminary nominees, which are displayed as such.
  • IMDB title: For awards given to movies and other dramatic presentations, this is the movie/show's title as it appears in IMDB, e.g. "Star Trek (2009)".
