The following templates are available within the ISFDB Wiki. Note that they are not necessarily the same as the templates that can be used in the Synopsis and Note fields in the ISFDB database -- see Help:Using Templates and HTML in Note Fields for a detailed list.

Most of these templates are specific to this Wiki, a few are copied from other wikis. Click on the links in the first column of each table to reach the actual template pages, which will usually display detailed documentation of the template.

Templates which are only used on a single page, or on a small closely linked group of pages, and are not intended for more general use, are not listed here. Also, recently created templates may not be listed here. To see the full list of all templates defined, go to this page.

Linking Templates

These are used to create standardized links to ISFDB database display pages, to wiki pages, or to other sites.

{{Pubr}} Links to a Publisher record in the database Link is by record number; User can specify the display text; link is displayed in a special color.
{{Series}} Links to a Series record in the database Link is by record number, or by series name; User can specify the display text; link is displayed in a special color.
{{Pn}} Links to a Publisher page in the wiki One parameter, the name of the publisher page. Basically a shortcut form of a wiki link to a Publisher: page
{{Clute/Grant}} Links to Reference:Clute/Grant, the page for the Encyclopedia of Fantasy Static link, no parameters

{{URL}} Formats a URL for display. Parameters can specify non-default quoting characters.

Image Templates

These templates are used on Image pages, to provide License data for the image, and in many cases identification data also. All image pages should have at least one of these templates in place.

Supports up to five cover artists.

{{Cover Image Data2}} Shorter and simpler form of Cover Image Data Puts the page into 4 fixed categories. Parameters match those of {{P}}
{{CID2}} Alias for Cover Image Data2 Exactly the same parameters and result as {{Cover Image Data2}}
{{C}} Alias for Cover Image Data2 Exactly the same parameters and result as {{Cover Image Data2}}
{{Cover Image Data3}} Shorter and simpler form of Cover Image Data, but not as simplified as {{Cover Image Data2}} Puts the page into a category by artist, plus 3 fixed categories. Parameters are Id (Pub Tag or record number), Artist, and Title, and may be specified unnamed in that order.

{{By Permission}} License data for an image (or document), used by explicit permission of the author User must specify the author, and any restrictions or details of the grant of permission. Puts the page into 1 fixed category.
{{CC-by-3.0}} License data for an image (or document), released under a Creative Commons attribution license, version 3.0 User must specify the details of the required attribution. Puts the page into 2 fixed categories. Similar templates are available for versions 2.0 and 2.5
{{CC-by-sa-3.0}} License data for an image (or document), released under a Creative Commons share-alike license, version 3.0 User must specify the details of the required attribution. Puts the page into 2 fixed categories. Similar templates are available for versions 2.0 and 2.5
{{PD-self}} License data for an image (or document), released into the public domain by the author who posted it on the ISFDB Only used when the author is the poster. Puts the page into 2 fixed categories.
{{PD-author}} License data for an image (or document), released into the public domain by the author elsewhere Must link to or cite the release statement. Puts the page into 2 fixed categories.
{{PD-US}} License data for an image (or document), not under US copyright Must indicate specific reason why this is public domain. Puts the page into 2 fixed categories.
{{Table of Contents}} Identification and License data for an image of the ToC from an online publication (webzine) Must indicate specific reason why this is public domain. Puts the page into 2 fixed categories.

Reference Templates

These templates are used on wiki text pages, to provide reference or citation information, or other notes.

Header Templates

These templates are used on wiki text pages, to provide standard headers, which generally include relevant links.

User Templates

These templates are used on user to mark a user's status and provide information on how to handle notifications in those cases.

Deletion Templates

These templates are for a user to mark a wiki page for deletion.

Administrative and Maintenance Templates

These templates are for recording information on wiki pages about the status of those pages, or of particular information on those pages.
