Books and Writers: John Updike was born in Reading in Pennsylvania, but until he was 13 he lived in Shillington, a smaller city near Reading, and then he moved away to Plowville, PA. Wikipedia: Updike was the only child of Wesley Russell Updike and Linda Grace Hoyer in Reading, Pennsylvania and grew up in the nearby small town Shillington.[8] The family later moved to the unincorporated village of Plowville. --Dirk P Broer 14:25, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
