Atlanta fan Jerry Burge was a founding member of the Atlanta Science Fiction Organization in the 1950s. Along with Carson Jacks, he published the first edition of Sam Mosowitz's The Immortal Storm in hardcover in 1954. Berg helped start the Southern Fan Press Association and was the art director of the short-lived "Witchcraft and Sorcery." Burge was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in December 2003 and in January, he underwent surgery to repair a heart valve. He died on April 6, 2004.
