Information about Everett Cole is somewhat suspicious because it is a common name. His date of death is often listed as "1977", but Jeffrey S. Fisher claims that this date comes from research he did, which he now disowns. The online Science Fiction Encyclopedia lists his birth as "Yorktown, Texas: 17 July 1910". Wikipedia lists him as born 1910, but dying in Yorktown, Texas.

The Social Security administration database of individuals who have died list only one "Everett Cole" born on July 17, 1910, and of him they say: "EVERETT COLE was born 17 July 1910, got Social Security number 484-09-5343 (indicating Iowa,) and died October 1977." This is not consistent with SFE, since if they have his birthdate correct, and he is now dead (almost certain), then he was born in Iowa, not Texas. The Wikipedia entry is, at least, consistent with the Social Security administration data.

People-search gives an Everett B. Cole with the following data:

Because Everett Cole also wrote various histories of Texas, it is nearly certain that he lived in Texas, and seems quite likely that he lived there at his death.
