Bio:Donald M. Hassler

Hassler has taught at Kent State University in Ohio since 1965. Prior to that and during the time he was completing his Ph.D. dissertation, he taught at the University of Montreal. The latter is a French-language university; he taught English. He has published both poetry and literary criticism and, for a twenty year period, served as the key editor of the journal Extrapolation. For a more complete listing of his work, see the online SF Encyclopedia. At Kent State, he served as Faculty Senate Chair as well as Chair of the English Department in recent years. Two of his published poems have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. He won the Eaton Award for his 1991 book on Isaac Asimov and the Thomas D. Clareson Award from the Science Fiction Research Association in 2001.
