T. Jackson King is a professional archeologist, journalist and author who is a graduate of UCLA (M.A. 1976, in archeology) and the University of Tennessee (B.S. 1971, in journalism). His published science fiction novels are LITTLE BROTHER'S WORLD (2010-Fantastic Books), JUDGMENT DAY AND OTHER DREAMS (2009-Fantastic Books), ANCESTOR’S WORLD (1996, with A.C. Crispin; Ace Books) and RETREAD SHOP (1988, Warner Books). His short stories have appeared in the magazines Analog, Pulphouse, Tomorrow, Absolute Magnitude, The Silver Web, VB Tech Journal, Expanse, Aberrations, Figment, Pandora and Midnight Zoo. His poetry has appeared in the collection MOTHER EARTH'S STRETCH MARKS (2009, Motherbird Books). He writes hard science fiction, anthropological scifi, dark fantasy/horror and contemporary fantasy/magic realism. King has worked as an archaeologist in the American Southwest and has traveled widely in Europe, Russia, Japan, Canada, Mexico and the United States. Other jobs have included short order cook, hotel clerk, legal assistant, telephone order taker, investigative reporter and newspaper editor. As an investigative reporter, his honors include a First Amendment Award 2003, by the Society for Professional Journalists; and two Honorable Mentions, 1987 and 1988, in L. Ron Hubbard's Writers of the Future Contest. His archeological publications include one monograph and six professional articles. In past years, King was a Tennessee hippie and co-published the Shinjuku Sutra English language underground tabloid in Japan in 1967. His three grown children are Keith, Karen and Kevin. Within the scifi community, King has appeared at many conventions including the recent 2009 Fiestacon/Westercon 62 in Tempe, Arizona; was chair of the Philip K. Dick Award jury in 1996; and served as SFWA Elections Chair in 1990. He lives with his wife Cathy in Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA, where he writes scifi stories, scifi novels and Gaean poetry.
