Born Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (formerly Southern Rhodesia) 28 May, 1947. Daughter of Monica Margaret (nee Renner) and Stanley Henry (Stanislaw Henryk) Kryszek. Immigrated to Canada in 1954. Educated at Edgehill School for Girls, Windsor, Nova Scotia; University of King's College, Halifax (B.A. hons, 1968): Carleton University, Ottawa (M.A. 1972); Dalhousie University, Halifax (M.L.S. 1972). Married Donald Fredrick Chard 1967. Three children: Diana Margaret (b. 1978), Brendan Donald (b.1981), Jacob Norman (b.1984).
