An 11 July 2013 [http://www.irishcatholic.ie/20130711/news/myles-cosmic-comedy-S35151.html article] at The Irish Catholic website put forward an argument that the author [http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/ea.cgi?136040 John Shamus O'Donnel] was another pseudonym for Brian O'Nolan, aka. Flann O'Brien, based on the appendix to ''The Short Fiction of Flann O’Brien'', ed. by Neil Murphy and Keith Hopper, Dalkey Archive Press, 2013. The article, however, gives the spelling of O'Donnel as "O'Donnell".

''The Short Fiction of Flann O’Brien'', edited by Neil Murphy and Keith Hopper (Dalkey Archive Press, 2013), includes the John Shamus O'Donnell story [http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?55121 'Naval Control'] as Appendix II of that collection, in the considered belief that the story is by Flann O'Brien. While the editors state "To date, no archival material has been found to verify the story's provenance", they put forward compelling evidence for them to justify their inclusion of the story in an O'Brien collection, and on that basis it is for the time being considered sufficient reason for making John Shamus O'Donnell a pseudonym of O'Brien. An 11 July 2013 article at The Irish Catholic website put forward an argument that the author John Shamus O'Donnel was another pseudonym for Brian O'Nolan, aka. Flann O'Brien, based on the appendix to The Short Fiction of Flann O’Brien, ed. by Neil Murphy and Keith Hopper, Dalkey Archive Press, 2013. The article, however, gives the spelling of O'Donnel as "O'Donnell".

The Short Fiction of Flann O’Brien, edited by Neil Murphy and Keith Hopper (Dalkey Archive Press, 2013), includes the John Shamus O'Donnell story 'Naval Control' as Appendix II of that collection, in the considered belief that the story is by Flann O'Brien.
