An 11 July 2013 article at The Irish Catholic website put forward an argument that the author John Shamus O'Donnel was another pseudonym for Brian O'Nolan, aka. Flann O'Brien, based on the appendix to The Short Fiction of Flann O’Brien, ed. by Neil Murphy and Keith Hopper, Dalkey Archive Press, 2013. The article, however, gives the spelling of O'Donnel as "O'Donnell".
