- External IDs - If this publication is listed by a supported third party bibliographic source which has assigned a permanent ID to it, select the source from the drop-down list on the left and enter the ID in the field on the right. If you need to enter additional External IDs, click the "Add External ID" button. Note that you can enter multiple External IDs per source if needed, e.g. OCLC/WorldCat frequently has more than one record per ISBN. The following third party bibliographic sources are currently supported:
ID | Name/Link | Description | How to find it |
---|---|---|---|
ASIN | Amazon Standard Identification Number | Look for the "ASIN" line in the "Product Details" section of the page. If the ASIN matches the ISBN10 of the book, do not record it. Most ASINs will start with B but for some older books, there may be exceptions. | |
Audible-ASIN | Audible | Valid only for audiobooks | Look for the "ASIN" in the address bar. It will look something like https://www.audible.com/pd/Good-Omens-Audiobook/B0036KV7Y4. Extract the B number (B0036KV7Y4 in this case). Please note that for audiobooks, you will usually have both this ASIN and the regular ASIN above. |
BL | The British Library | Look for the "system number" part of the "Identifier" line. Alternatively, get it from the UIN number by removing the leading "BLL01". At this time all BL numbers start with 0. | |
BN | Barnes and Noble | Look for the EAN. If it is a real EAN, it will start with 294. If it matches the ISBN13, do not record it as a BN number but as an ISBN. | |
BNB | The British National Bibliography | Part of the British Library. | Look for the "BNB" entry on the "Identifier" line. Do not use numbers starting with BLL. Even though they can find the book, these are BL numbers (see above how to strip them for find the BL number). |
BNF | Bibliothèque nationale de France | These always start with "cb" and can be found as the last part of the "Citer la notice" part of the BNF page. Do not use the notice number (these usually start with FR). | |
COPAC | UK/Irish union catalog | The record ID in the COPAC site. Contains only numbers. | |
DNB | Deutsche Nationalbibliothek | The ID in the DNB site. Contains numbers and x/X. | |
FantLab | Laboratoria Fantastiki | Russian: Лаборатория Фантастики | We require the editions ID and not the work one. Strip the word edition from the last part of the URL and use just the number. If you are looking at the work URL, click on the exact edition. |
Goodreads | Goodreads | Social cataloging site | Use just the number from the ID - remove all other texts (usually the numbers are followed by - and a stylized version of the title; we need only the numbers) |
JNB/JPNO | Japanese National Bibliography | Japanese: 全国書誌データ提供, part of the National Diet Library (NDL) | The name of the field in the library page is "National Bibliography No.(JPNO)". Usually contains only numbers. |
LCCN | Library of Congress Control Number | Both the complete string (87000023) and the hyphen one (87-23) are accepted. | |
LTF | La Tercera Fundación | Spanish bibliography | Record the numbers only; we need the publication IDs and not the title ones (the URLs should contain "ver/libro/" and not "ver/ficha/" before the ID. If you are looking at the ficha one, click on the exact edition. |
