Nina Munteanu is a Canadian ecologist and internationally published novelist of science fiction and fantasy. In addition to eight published novels, Nina has written short stories, articles and non-fiction books, which have been translated into several languages throughout the world. Recognition for her work includes the Midwest Book Review Reader’s Choice Award, finalist for Foreword Magazine’s Book of the Year Award, the SLF Fountain Award, and The Delta Optimist Reviewers Choice.

Nina Munteanu generally writes hard science fiction with strong female protagonists. Many of her novels and short stories examine the role and evolution of humanity in the context of nature and technology.

Her novels to date include: Collision with Paradise in 2005; The Cypol in 2006; and Darwin's Paradox in 2007. Its prequel, Angel of Chaos, was released in 2010 by Dragon Moon Press. Her trilogy The Splintered Universe (Outer Diverse, Inner Diverse and Metaverse) were published by Starfire in 2011, 2012, and 2013 (in press). Her historical fantasy "The Last Summoner" was released by Starfire World Syndicate in 2012. Her short story collection "Natural Selection" will be released by Pixl Press in 2013.

Her non fiction books include two writing guidebooks. She published The Fiction Writer: Get Published, Write Now! with Starfire World Syndicate in 2009. It was translated into Romanian and published by Editura Paralela 45 as "Manual de Scriere Creativa: Scriitorul de fictiune" in 2011. The second in her series of writing guides, "The Journal Writer: Finding Your Voice" was released in 2013 by Pixl Press. It was translated into Romanian and published by Editura Paralela 45 as "Scriitorul de Journal: Descoperirea vocii interioare" in 2012.

Nina Munteanu regularly publishes reviews and essays in magazines such as The New York Review of Science Fiction and Strange Horizons. She serves as staff writer for several online and print magazines, and was assistant editor-in-chief of Imagikon, a Romanian speculative magazine. She is currently an editor of Europa SF, a zine dedicated to informing the European SF community.
