The Alton Gift

Some sites list The Alton Gift as being part of the "The Children of Kings" series. Deborah J. Ross' web site seems to put this in a series called "Modern Darkover" and has the following explanation.

After A Flame in Hali, I began work on a sequel to Traitor's Sun. Originally, this book was to be titled, The Children of Kings. It rapidly became apparent that there were far too many story elements to be contained in a single volume. So, there will be three new books set in "modern" Darkover, each one a "stand-alone."
  • The Alton Gift - The first of the three new books set in "modern" Darkover.
  • The second book, which will most likely be titled, The Children of Kings.
  • Ross describes the third book but did not list what its title will be.

DAW Books seems to put The Alton Gift in the "Novels of Darkover" series. Just before the title page for The Alton Gift is a page of Marion Zimmer Bradley titles published by DAW that breaks the titles down by series. The Alton Gift itself is not included in this list but is assumed to be in “The Novels of Darkover” series based on the statements “The long-awaited sequel to Traitor's Sun” and the statement “A Novel of Darkover” on the front cover.
