Welcome!

Hello, PinneyFowke, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! MagicUnk (talk) 06:05, 16 March 2023 (EDT)

A Dream of Wessex

Hello, and welcome. I've had to reject your submissions [1], [2] as entering cover artist credits is not done by varianting. It is done by editing the actual publication record. I've updated the artist for you - see A Dream of Wessex. If you intend to contribute more to the ISFDB, do read through the information provided in the welcome message above. Also, do not hesitate to head over to the Community Portal or Help Desk to ask for advice. You can reply to this message by clicking on the small 'edit' to the right of this message's title. Regards, MagicUnk (talk) 06:17, 16 March 2023 (EDT)

Thank you so much for all your helpful information. With Christopher Priest's A Dream of Wessex, the existing edition is by Faber and Faber with cover by Paul Nash. Bob's cover was for the Pan paperback edition ISBN 0330 25543 6

To Ride Pegasus and other submissions

Same for your other edits - for those that I rejected, I corrected/updated per the information you provided. Again, do read through the material provided in the welcome message. It's a great starting point when editing the ISFDB. Also, don't be discouraged, as it takes some time getting used to editing the database. By the way, if you want to cancel a submission, you can do that by selecting 'My Pending Edits' from the left hand menu. MagicUnk (talk) 06:32, 16 March 2023 (EDT)

The Cave Girl and other submissions on hold

I have your submission on hold as the Tandem publication already exists, but there the art is attributed to Richard Clifton-Dey, and not Bob Fowke. Can you provide additional evidence that the art of The Cave Girl is by Bob Fowke?

The difficulty with this one is that Tandem didn't credit the cover artist. I note that the cover listing currently credits Richard Clifton-Day, and has come from ERB Webzine, so I have contacted them about this. To support Bob's submission, he does have the original artwork, as the agency Young Artists always insisted that the artwork was returned to the artist, and the information I have is from the cover proof. I've tried to insert a photo of it, but it's the wrong size/format, so I need to find out how to do this.

Similar questions for all the other submissions I have on hold. Either provide more details about where to get the details of the publications, or better yet, please submit the missing publication records yourself. Thanks! MagicUnk (talk) 11:02, 16 March 2023 (EDT)

With 1) the Brian Earnshaws under edit there doesn't seem to be an option to add in a cover artist 2) With MacDonald Harris Yukiko doesn't appear in his list of titles, so I can't editg it. However, I found it on Amazon Japan after a search on Amazon, and again Bob holds the original artwork, ISBN from the cover proof 0-380-42895-4-225 3) Heinlein The Man who sold the Moon - I'm having a problem find this, the ISBN I have isn't producing a result Pan 0 330 23831 0 but Bob has the cover proofs, although not the original artwork, as this was sold 4) Brian Earnshaw's work all states on the back of it that the cover artwork is by Bob Fowke, as well as the original artwork for these, he has the cover proofs, which I could scan to you, I need to learn how to do this. 5) Men and Monsters - Bob has the artwork annotated by his then agent but I haven't been able to find an example online

I do hope this helps, I really appreciate your help, and I am learning gradually how to work with this site. I would really like to apply for a Wikipedia entry for Bob, but will have to do a lot more learning, I have been practising in the sandpit.
