When entering magazine issues, when they are month dated, add the complete date into the year field, e.g. October, 1971 would be entered "1971-10-00". Doing this will automatically month-date the content records if you leave their date field blank. Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.
Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.
I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 01:44, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Adding a nongenre pub in order to add a nonfiction essay
We accept submissions adding issues of nongenre magazines only if they contain speculative fiction. I had to reject the submission adding an issue of National Review with an essay by Poul Anderson. If the essay appears in one of Anderson's books, fiction or otherwise, you can add a note to the essay's title record about the piece's original publication. This was done to avoid an influx of thousands (literally) of issues of nongenre magazines that contain non-sf articles by sf writers. Imagine the hundreds of pieces Isaac Asimov alone contributed in his lifetime to different magazines, and you may get an inkling of the rationale behind this policy. Thanks and please continue to contribute. Mhhutchins 01:29, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Pub. series
Magazines aren't placed into publication series. Because they don't have title records (only editor records), they're placed into an editor series. I've edited the Boys' Life records to remove the pub series. Thanks. Mhhutchins 01:31, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Dating of magazine
When entering magazine issues, when they are month dated, add the complete date into the year field, e.g. October, 1971 would be entered "1971-10-00". Doing this will automatically month-date the content records if you leave their date field blank. Thanks. 01:39, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
