Welcome!

Hello, Zflip, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Stonecreek 09:23, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Heinlein's Star Beast

Thank you very much for adding this unknown (at least to us) printing! If you'd like to add the cover image please do so by clicking on the Upload cover scan field at the bottom of the publication's heading. You'd need probably to scan it first, if this is possible for you.

Also welcome would be information on the cover artist if mentioned or known through a reliable source. Thanks again, Stonecreek 09:33, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for providing the art! I have entered a question here. Maybe somebody is able to provide information on the cover. Stonecreek 11:19, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

Note to Moderator Field

I accepted the submission to update thsi record, but copied the data that you provided in the "Note to Moderator" field, so that I could add it to the "Note" field in an update to the record. Keep in mind that the "Note to Moderator" field is to provide the moderator with additional information to help in the decision to accept the submission. This note disappears the moment the submission is accepted, never visible to the database user. If the information is concerning the publication itself (and not the submission) then that information should be added to the "Note" field, so that it can be visible to the database user. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 03:36, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Danny Dunn and the Smallifying Machine

Thanks for submitting the Macdonald editions of the Danny Dunn books! I have approved Danny Dunn and the Smallifying Machine, but I wonder about the price, "90p/18s". Could you please review the Price section of our Help to see if there is a better way to represent it? TIA! (I will also ask one of the UK moderators to take a look.) Ahasuerus 04:55, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Based on this discussion, it looks like the price is "90 new pence or 18 old shillings", so the field has been adjusted accordingly. Ahasuerus 16:57, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
P.S. In case you are not sure how to respond to these messages, you can do so by clicking on the word "edit" next to the sub-section title. Ahasuerus 16:57, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Star Beast - cover markings

I've checked my copy of Star Beast against the edition you did PV1 for, here and they seem to be identical, except for the 'SA 86' marking you've noted on the cover. Before I do an additional verification, could you say what part of the cover it's on, how big, what sort of typeface, etc? Thanks, Astrodan 23:41, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

I've just found it, on a green leaf of the plant at bottom-right of the front cover The letter 'A' is indistinct though, it could be 'K' or 'R'. (Or even 'H' or 'M'...) Have you any thoughts on who the artist may be? My trawl online has produced Stephen Hickman's website here, whose art looks quite similar, and Stephen Martiniere's site, here, although he is possibly too recent.) Astrodan 12:17, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
The 'A' might be some other letter, but I don't have any thoughts on who the artist could be. Zflip 09:21, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Tunnel Trough Time

Hello, I've put your submission on hold just to check with you that there is indeed an ISBN on this 1969 book which is quite early for a 1970 standard. I've also approved some of your updates for Wyndham titles. As you seem to have copies of the books, please don't hesitate to set you up as their Primary Verifier. This will simplify the moderator's task and indicate to other users that the data pertaining to a publication comes from a physical copy of the book. Hauck 03:55, 19 December 2017 (EST)

This edition of Tunnel Through Time has a nine-digit SBN printed on both the imprint page and the back cover. Zflip 04:09, 19 December 2017 (EST)
As per this section of the help, such inference ("constructing" an ISBN from a SBN) should be precised in the notes. I've approved the submission and updated the notes. Hauck 04:28, 19 December 2017 (EST)
