Welcome!

Hello, Wvancamp, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Annie 06:21, 13 September 2020 (EDT)

Eccentric Orbits: An Anthology Of Science Fiction Poetry

Hello and welcome again. I approved the book but a few changes had to be made:

  • We standartize titles so I fixed the capitalization in a few titles ("of" for example)
  • When adding the editor of an anthology, just add the name - the system will mark them as an editor
  • The publisher name seems to be "Dimentionfold Publishing" and not "Dimentionalfold Publishing"
  • The format is 5.5x8.5 inches - so it should be "tp" and not "pb". "pb" is for mass market paperbacks.
  • The ASIN field is for non-paperback (as a rule, if the ASIN does not start with a B, then we do not record it in the field.
  • The Goodreads field needs just a number.
  • Amazon has the date as "April 3, 2020". I did not update that as you are PV'ing but we tend to use the date IF we can verify (and add a comment explaining where it comes from).

The result is here. Let me know if you have any questions and/or concerns. Annie 06:29, 13 September 2020 (EDT)

Thank you for approving the entry. I know that the other poets and the editor are happy to have the book included here. I have one small issue however, the cover artist is wrong. He is not connected with the cover art company listed in the entry. I'm not sure what needs to be done to correct this. Do I need to go in and change the details and then ask for verification? Or do you the versifier need to do it? I am new to wiki editing in general and simply wish to do the job correctly. It is my hope to add next year's poetry anthology to the db and perhaps two other anthologies I've been involved with if their editors approve. Please advise.

Well, it is a DB and not wiki so the editing here is a bit... different. You will get used to it. :) In such cases we record "as published" and then we do some varianting to show the actual artist name and add notes to explain where the error originated. See what I did and let me know how that looks.
And you can add as many books as you want - as long as they are published and are speculative, they are eligible - even if the editors do not approve, if someone has them/finds them, they will get added - we are a bibliography. :) Annie 15:44, 16 September 2020 (EDT)

I looked at what you did for Eccentric Orbits, and I think that will have to do. If Ian 2 starts to do more covers, then his file will grow. So I can do a book even if the editors do not approve? I'll be darn. I did speak to the editor of Quantum Visions and she would be delighted if I added in the rest of the books, so as time permits I will do so. The publication is small, but it is a physical anthology and is speculative. Thank you for your guidence. :) Wvancamp 13:31, 25 September 2020 (EDT)

We are a bibliography/catalog of the genre - we will remove any personal information from an author page if they ask (not that we keep much) but a book/magazine/fanzine is a book/magazine/fanine - we catalog it if it is out and we won't remove it because an editor/author does not like it being here. :) If the book was published (or about to be published) and it is in scope, anyone can add it here. Ebooks, audio-books, physical books - all are welcome as long as they fit in our Rules of Acquisition. If you need any assistance, just ask :)Annie 13:38, 25 September 2020 (EDT)
