First Cause

I have some questions about the submission for this novel: a publication date of 2990? [it won't be released for another 980 years? ;-) ] Maybe 1990? Is the artist, you[?], really credited as WT1 in/on the book? The URL for the image does not work [that's an easy fix, though, as I did find the publication on Amazon but without much data to work with]. --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:10, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

To respond, click on the [edit] button at right and type away, indenting with another colon to create 'steps' [makes the thread easier to read]. The second last tab above the edit window is the signature tab and will date/sign any reply. Again, welcome! --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:10, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Hey Bill, Woops--that was supposed to read '2009'! Believe it or not, the book is well edited, despite such a silly lapse. The artist is myself and another person, collctively knon to some of our friends as the Wonder Twins; similr to Thing 1 and Thing 2 (if memory serves me correctly), we're actually both considered Wonder Twin 1 when addressed--but that's really just an inside joke, so suffice to say that yes, I am the cover artist--but I didn't do it alone. There's no acknowledgement for cover art in the actual novel. Any more questions? Thanks! PW
I'll fix the submission and add the image correctly. Not sure about the artist credit, though. What goes in the field will create a bibliographic page, which isn't much good if no-one but your friends/associates know to look under WT1. We have no problem with assigning an artist even if the publication doesn't list one if there is sufficient secondary source[s] to justify it. Not sure how that applies here, though. Any suggestions? For the moment I'll just leave the field as is, it can be adjusted later or, when the bibliographic page is created you can fill in the blanks? --~ Bill, Bluesman 20:03, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Result is [here] Just click on the WT1 link and you'll get the new biographic/bibliographic page. --~ Bill, Bluesman 20:07, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, Bill! Don't worry about accreditaion for WT1; neither of us are :)

p.s. my cover image is above the filesize limit, so I'm going to leave the one you uploaded (thank you!); it'll work just fine.
Hey Bill, I'm almost done linking everything up! But I need help: there's another Paul West on the website. So when you click on my name, it also links with his publication, implying that I published his 1991 short story as well as my novel. How can I separate the two?? WonderTwin1 22:09, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi again Bill, I have a few more questions/updates. First of all, I just created another user page called 'firstcauseproject'; that's me, too, to alleviate any confusion! As for my book: I need to re-link the page on the bibliograpic listing to the page on the wiki listing (sorry---I got to fiddling around and I think un-linked them). Secondly, I'd like to permanently separate my author listing from the other Paul West. I've begun a preliminary step by moving my 'wiki' page to "Paul S. West" and changing the birthdate to "1971". Is there any way to change all of the First Cause listings so that they now list Paul S West as the author, at least to create some separation? Basically I'm trying to make sure First Cause and my author page are all prolerly connected. Once this is done, I promise not to do any more dangerous fiddling unless I'm certain it won't mess up my linkage. Please advise, and thank you!!! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by WonderTwin1 (talkcontribs) .
Hello, Paul. Mike Hutchins here. I saw what you were attempting to do here, and it was becoming very convoluted. So I have simplified the situation and hope you find that it's better than the approach you were taking. The novel's title record is here: First Cause. It is linked to this author summary page: Paul West. You can see there is no other work credited to this author appearing under that name on this page. I've moved the credits for the other Paul West to Paul West (1931-). You'll find the wiki bio page here which is linked to the db's summary page. I deleted the "First Cause project" pages, the "Paul West (1971-) pages and the re-directs as they appear to be unnecessary now that you have sole possession of the canonical name, Paul West. If you still want to change your canonical name to Paul S. West, that can be easily done. We will make "Paul West" the pseudonym and create variant records for First Cause. Let me know if there's anything about this that isn't clear and we can work together to straighten it out. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 06:16, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
