Welcome!

Hello, Wlampkin, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Hauck 16:53, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

Charles Copeland

Hello, to answer your question, there is another Charles Copeland here so in order to disambiguate them, someone made the choice to add the dates to their name. IIRC there are no strict rules for doing this kind of diambiguation: you'll see XXX (artist) like here, XXX (I) (like here) and probably many more. If you have other questions, it's better to use the Moderator Noticeboard or The Help Desk than to make a 'void' submission that must be rejected. Hauck 17:00, 19 September 2016 (UTC)

William Campbell Gault and Larry Sternig

Thank you for the information about William Campbell Gault and Larry Sternig. We will look into it. Unless you choose to make edits to correct problems (which you are welcome to do -- all edits are moderated, and you cannot do any harm by submitting changes), it is better to use the Moderator Noticeboard or Community Portal to draw attention to data issues instead of using submissions not meant to change anything. It's both safer and gives more members of the community a chance to act on what you have found. Thanks, and thank you for contributing. --MartyD 00:49, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for your feedback. That makes perfect sense. I'm new to ISFDB's system, and not sure how things operate, so I appreciate your help. --Wlampkin
Welcome, then, good to have you here! Any of the tasks you see in the navigation bar at the left when you're in the main ISFDB, you are "allowed" to do. Anything that will change ISFDB data -- additions, modifications, deletions -- gets submitted to a "pending" queue for moderator evaluation and acceptance. Moderators make sure the change conforms to any applicable standards and policies and will help guide you through any discrepancies. You don't need to worry about making mistakes; everyone makes them, and it can be difficult to find all of the relevant information that's spread through the Wiki. Moderators are here to help with that. If you see something that is wrong or missing, correct it or add it as best you can, and then go from there. You can also ask how-to/whether-I-should/what's-the-right-way questions on the Help Desk if you prefer some assistance before attempting something. I encourage you to give it a try. --MartyD 10:57, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

Variant assistant editor for The Pulpster

I have put your submission on hold as a primary verified publication is concerned (changes such as this have to be discussed with the verifier as per ISFDB etiquette). I have informed the verifier for you. I'd think you are correct, but the question remains if the assistant editor is in fact correctly credited within the publication (well, errors happen). Thanks Stonecreek 05:20, 28 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi. You are correct. Somehow I got it wrong. Unfortunately, it happens. Rarely :) I've submitted a change in the note, or the mod can accept your changes. Sorry for the mixup and thanks for finding it. Feel free to ask me about any of my Pulpster submissions if I've gotten something else wrong. Doug / Vornoff 05:57, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
No worries. Just noticed the mistake while looking up something else. It jumped out at me since I'm the editor of the zine. :) Thanks! Bill 01:42, 2 December 2016 (UTC)
