Tweehonderd Miljoen A.D. / De Silkie
Hello, your cover looks a lot like this one, and this one ring a very loud bell in my mind but I can't pinpoint it exactly (it's very likely Gray Morrow). Hauck 14:26, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- You have a good memory! The Pennington matches, the other one is here, alas, also uncredited. Thanks! --Willem H. 14:46, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- Cover of Het Rijk van het atoom is probably by Jerome Podwil, but I can't prove it. Same cover was also used for C.C. MacApp - Recall Not Earth (Dell 1970) and Karl Mannheim - The Vampires of Venus (Five Star 1973) and Sterren van Galaxy II (Centripress 1981). Horzel 11:39, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- You may well be right, but no proof alas. --Willem H. 19:10, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
The Dark Light[-]Years
Does the title page of [this] have a hyphen? The other two Signet editions do. Cheers! --~ Bill, Bluesman 17:38, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- It does, and the author is without W. Corrected now. Thanks! --Willem H. 19:15, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
Neanderthal Planet
My copy is CDN so PV1 slot is now open for [this]. Use it wisely! ;-) Cheers! --~ Bill, Bluesman 03:18, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

- Don't think so. I do have a book about the life of Hubbard somewhere though. Might as well read that too when I'm studying mad science. --Willem H. 18:57, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- Science is never mad, only its practitioners ............ --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:52, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
The Dark Shore
Can you confirm that this pub was published as "Eos" and not "Avon Eos". We've separated those titles that were published by Avon from 1998 until 2000, before Avon was sold by Hearst. The new company, HarperCollins, dropped "Avon" from the name, but kept the Eos imprint. Thanks for looking. Mhhutchins 21:45, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
- It's Avon Eos. Corrected now. Thanks! --Willem H. 18:35, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
"The Beginning Place", by Ursula K. Le Guin
I corrected the cover artist for your verified publication from "Griesbach Martucci" to "Cheryl Griesbach and Stanley Martucci", based on the conversation on the Community Portal Chavey 22:51, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
And the same for The Last Rainbow, by Parke Godwin. Chavey 22:58, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, I added my comment there. --Willem H. 18:58, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
13 Great Stories
There may be a date in [this]. Just picked up the printing just before it [T2174] and on the last page of text there is a code 69-12-4, which I'll use as year/month/printing#. Could be a similar code in your printing? --~ Bill, Bluesman 22:50, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- No luck (is no code) with this one. :( --Willem H. 15:22, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
Would [12 Great Classics] have a date code in the back? [third] printing does. --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:00, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- Bingo! 66-5-2, changed the date and note. Thanks! --Willem H. 19:30, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- Great! Think that confirms that the last digit is the printing#. Three of three so far. --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:40, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- Make that four for four! [This] also has a code. Could make a lot of Fawcett editions get accurately dated. --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:52, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- I'll check the ones I can find one of these days. --Willem H. 20:44, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Hard Landing
Corrected the artist credit for [this]. Signature didn't look like Mattingly's, checked the SFBC [record] which sets things right [or less wrong!!]. Cheers! --~ Bill, Bluesman 01:15, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- Jane Frank says Bob Eggleton as well. Thanks! --Willem H. 15:27, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
Time is the Simplest Thing
Hi Willem, I may have found the complete name for the illustrator of Time is the Simplest Thing, as the same signature can be found on this page with illustrations by Dave Noyes.--Dirk P Broer 08:32, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! I added the full name and a note. --Willem H. 18:53, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
Encyclopedia of Xanth
Encyclopedia of Xanth is in the title series "Crossroads Adventure". As per this discussion, I'm turning it into a publication series. Darkday 22:55, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll change the title series to Xanth. --Willem H. 18:01, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
Telempath
Possibly initials on the cover of [this]. Bottom right corner, just a shade darker green than the background. Possibly 'JL' or something similar?? Not ones I recognize [assuming the hallucinations don't start... again]. ;-) --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:52, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Pictures at 11
Saw the note in [this] about the artist. The [pb] does credit the way Locus indicates [no Rodriguez-] but the © for the artwork is 1995, after the tp edition was published. Not sure how that works as the two covers are the same. --~ Bill, Bluesman 23:23, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- I saw Michael's response. Looks good now. Thanks, --Willem H. 06:22, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

Moorcock's The Stealer of Souls [and Other Stories]
I've expanded the title of Moorcock's The Stealer of Souls adding "and Other Stories" as it appears on the title page. Let me know if you disagree and I can change it back. Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 19:49, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- No problem. Thanks! --Willem H. 20:42, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
Dark Universe
Hi Willem, could you please verify that the signature on the cover of this novel reads "M Hooks" (Mitchell Hooks) instead of "V.A. Hoot". See also this scan and this signature. Thanks. Horzel 11:23, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- I think you're right. I changed the credit and added notes. Thanks! --Willem H. 18:41, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Terry Goodkind
Replaced the amazon images and added notes to [Chainfire], [Confessor], [Pillars of Creation], [Faith of the Fallen]. Posted here because I also added the map that's used throughout the series. Cheers! --~ Bill, Bluesman 16:25, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Citizen of the Galaxy
Appears we have another set of Heinlein 'twins'! [1] and [2]. Differences explained in the notes. Cheers! --~ Bill, Bluesman 02:03, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

I Will Fear No Evil
Speaking of which, how's the Mad Scientist apprentice doing??¿¿?? Would Jane Frank list the cover for [this] under Don Punchatz? Thanks! --~ Bill, Bluesman 15:55, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
No luck with Jane Frank. The scientist is getting madder every day. I can zap spammers now do the fish slapping dance. --Willem H. 18:15, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
- I am almost afraid to ask but too curious not to: 'fish slapping dance'?? Does this mean someone with a net is coming for you? --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:05, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
- Do you get the big fish or the little ones?? ;-))) --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:24, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
- Both of course. I can do it alone! --Willem H. 19:31, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
The Lovers
[This] record doesn't mention a printing and Don Erikson wants to clone it for a second printing but all the same data. I have it on hold if you want to look. Thanks! --~ Bill, Bluesman 22:42, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
- According to the PJF International Bibliography the 2nd printing does exist, but the publication date should be March 1981. I added some notes to my 1st printing. --Willem H. 08:17, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! --~ Bill, Bluesman 14:09, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
- I'm confused (nothing new). My copy says:
"First Edition May 1979"
then
"Paperback format"
First Edition: March 1980
Second printing: March 1981"
So is it the same as the cloned item or is it different?Don Erikson 21:04, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
- The submission just copied the first printing, leaving the original date. With the above data I can accept the submission and change the date and notes. --~ Bill, Bluesman 03:35, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

Pebble in the Sky
Would Jane Frank list [this] as by Paul Lehr? Style is a no-brainer but a source would be nice. Thanks! --~ Bill, Bluesman 13:51, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
- Again, no luck. Jane Frank doesn't mention this one. --Willem H. 18:40, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Tunnel in the Sky [2]

Seem to be two records, [1] and [2] for the same pub, just a slight difference how the catalog # was recorded. Same message to Hervé. --~ Bill, Bluesman 02:22, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
- Looks like Hervé removed the second record. Looks good to me. Thanks, --Willem H. 08:34, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Ace/Heinlein ads
I don't have both of the printings but the ads for [this] are likely different than the ones in [a later] printing. If you could check? If yours is an earlier printing can you note which ads are there? Thanks! --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:15, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- Mine has 15, 17, 8, 14 and 7. Added to the notes. --Willem H. 19:32, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks!
And, I'm willing to bet there is more than one printing of [this], so I added the ads to the notes. --~ Bill, Bluesman 19:25, 23 June 2013 (UTC)
- Well, for once we have the same printing! --Willem H. 19:32, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Date question
Could you check your verified date (1948-05-00) for the 4th Pocket printing of Pat Frank's MR. ADAM [2]? It shows as being earlier (1948-03-00) than the my 1st.Don Erikson 00:04, 24 June 2013 (UTC)
- The first printing was in the database with a date of 1949-02-00. I corrected this to 1948-03-00 (the publication date of the first pocket printing according to my 4th). Should show correct now. Thanks, --Willem H. 11:43, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
The Art of the Lord of the Rings
Your verified The Art of the Lord of the Rings has an invalid ISBN (11 characters). It looks like it has an extra 0 at the start per Amazon and Worldcat). Is this a typo or is it incorrect on the publication itself? Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 15:49, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
- You're absolutely right, one extra 0. Corrected now. Thanks, --Willem H. 19:08, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

- I have the US edition. Moved my verification. Thanks! --Willem H. 17:22, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
Who?
Hello Willem, could you please check the name of the cover artist for this publication. Cover artist is currently listed as "Robert V. Engel", but there's a Note "Cover painting is credited to Engle on the back cover". Correct name would be Robert (V.) Engle, see for example here. Thanks. Horzel 21:16, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
- The cover is credited as by "Robert V. Engel". I adapted the notes, and made Engel a pseudonym of Robert V. Engle. --Willem H. 12:45, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

I've had a submission on hold for a few days now, hoping to get some sort of response from the editor who submitted...to no avail. I have released the hold and am asking that you handle it since it involves a record which you primary verified. Thanks. Mhhutchins 13:53, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! I have it on hold now, trying to find other proof of the artist credit (it certainly looks like Segrelle's work). No luck yet. --Willem H. 14:52, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
"10.000 Lichtjaar van huis", by James Tiptree
With your verified publication, I added a minor note (the last one), and corrected the last word of the second title story from "Heuvel" to "Heuvelwand". (Unless you and I have variants of the same book, that's the title in my table of contents and on the story title page.) Chavey 04:31, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! The title of the second story was too long for my original Dbase3 file, so it was truncated and I didn't notice this when entering the book. The extra note is ok. --Willem H. 20:46, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Does this here really mean "Naschrift (Venus Plus X)"? Isn't there a "ch" missing? --Stoecker 14:16, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for catching this! It is a Dutch translation, so the title is correct. I changed the language from German to Dutch. --Willem H. 18:57, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
Russell's "Meeting on Kangsham" / "...Kangshan"
According to the notes in this record the story's title is given as "Meeting on Kangsham" (final "m" instead of "n") on its title page, although the content listing gives the canonical title. The record for the second printing makes the changes in the record's content listing. Mhhutchins 23:11, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for spotting this. Corrected now. --Willem H. 20:35, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
Victor Roman or Rowan
Can you confirm the author credit for the story on page 23 of this publication? Thanks. Mhhutchins 17:53, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, it's Victor Roman on the title page, TOC and copyright page. --Willem H. 09:37, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
Sprong in het duister
Hi Willem, the cover artist for this (Ridderhof 1975) is Gordon C. Davies, as the art is the same as for Assignment in Eternity (NEL 1971). Horzel 10:52, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! I added the credit. --Willem H. 09:48, 24 August 2013 (UTC)

The Iron Man
I've got myself in the middle of a controversy. A friend of mine, not a contributor to the ISFDB, tells me that The Iron Man by Robert E. Howard does not contain an introduction in the paperback version. Howardworks.com shows no introduction in the paperback, but does in the hardcover (Donald M. Grant both published and wrote the introduction). I don't own the paperback, and apparently you do. Does it have Grant's introduction? Bob 20:06, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
- I hate to disappoint you, but your friend is wrong. Donald M. Grant's introduction is there, it's dated February 10, 1976, and is even mentioned on the TOC. --Willem H. 21:00, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
- Not a disappointment at all, just a clarification! Thank you, Willem. Bob 16:25, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
The Incredible Adventures of Dennis Dorgan
Willem, you verified that the first printing of the paperback version of Dennis Dorgan contains the Darrell Richardson introduction that also appears in the hardcover, although it is not credited. Given that the other three printings shown have the same number of pages and the stories on the same pages, shouldn't they also show the Richardson introduction on page 5? Bob 16:24, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I think so. I added it to the other printings and notified other verifier. I also saw that the credit to Richardson was wrong in my pub, it should have been as by uncredited, varianted to Richardson. Corrected now. Thanks! --Willem H. 09:56, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

SF Author's Choice
I've added the author's comments to the UK reprint edition of this publication, but there a few discrepancies between this edition and yours. Is the piece on page 47 "Comment on Last of the Deliverers" or "Comment on The Last of the Deliverers"? Are the pieces on pages 179 and 183 "Comments on..." or "Comment on..." I have imported the original titles, but will variant them if the ones in the UK edition have different titles. Thanks for checking. Mhhutchins 02:57, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
- Shame on me, I hadn't noticed these. Yes,it's "Comment on The Last of the Deliverers", and the pieces on pages 179 and 183 are "Comment on..." Thanks! --Willem H. 19:46, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

"Anonymous" versus "uncredited"
Based on ISFDB standards, unless the work actually states it is anonymously edited, this publication should be credited to "uncredited". (This came up on a script looking for pubs in which the author field of the publication record doesn't match the author field of the title record.) Thanks. Mhhutchins 01:51, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
- You're absolutely right. Corrected now. Thanks! --Willem H. 07:25, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
Fear and Trembling
Hello, could you please check the title of [this]. Is it "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" or "Alfred Hitchcock's" Fear and Trembling? Cheers, ForJohnScalzi 04:50, 1 October 2013 (UTC).
- It's 'Alfred Hitchcock's Fear and Trembling' on the cover, but 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Fear and Trembling' on the titlepage. I added a note about this. Thanks! --Willem H. 18:39, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

"De verwoesting van Leeuwarden", by Trinus Riemersma
You verified this publication, listing the publisher as "Van Ditmar". This is the only book in the system listed with that publisher, although many books are listed as by "Nijgh & Van Ditmar". According to Wikipedia, "Van Ditmar" merged with "Nijgh" in 1870, and it seems that publications since then have all been by "Nijgh & Van Ditmar". The OCLC record lists it as being part of the "Van Ditmar paperback" publication series. So I wonder if "Van Ditmar" might just be the publication series, with the publisher being "Nijgh & Van Ditmar"? Chavey 01:57, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- "Van Ditmar" is a totally different company, specialized in import and distribution, and sometimes publishing their own books. In 1968 (the publication year of "De Verwoesting van Leeuwarden") the company was based in Amsterdam, in those days "Nijgh & Van Ditmar" operated from The Hague. The title page of "De Verwoesting van Leeuwarden" states the publisher as "Van Ditmar Amsterdam". I agree the name can be confusing, but we also have at least two publishers named "Meulenhoff"
- I removed the link to the wikipedia article, and added one to the company's website. Also adapted the notes and added a warning not to confuse the two. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! --Willem H. 10:04, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks much for the publisher notes and the disambiguation! Chavey 15:34, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
Zelazny's The Dead Man's Brother
Willem, could you take a look at your copy of your verified pub The Dead Man's Brother. Mine has a Canadian price of $7.99 and also a UK price of £6.99. We may have another printing on our hands. Also, I'd like to change the publisher from "Hard Case Crime" to Hard Case Crime / Titan Books", which is how most of the series appears in the db already (and I think is more accurate). Thanks. PeteYoung 16:05, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, it must be a different printing as I notice mine also has a different ISBN-13. Another discrepancy is the artist credit: mine has "Charles Pyle" on the copyright page but "Chuck Pyle" on the back cover. PeteYoung 16:13, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
- They are different. Mine has both the ISBN-10 and -13, and no UK price. I changed the publisher to "Hard Case Crime / Dorchester Publishing", the copyright page states "published by Dorchester Publishing Co., Inc." You are right about the artist. I copied your note. Thanks! --Willem H. 20:37, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
The Road to Science Fiction #2: From Wells to Heinlein
I just cleaned up the 3rd printing of Gunn's The Road to Science Fiction #2 and I noticed a few places where the titles in my printing differed from those in your printing. I've only made the changes to mine and will leave it up to you and the other verifiers as to how to proceed:
- For all of the excerpts I've made the title in the form "From <Title of original work>" as opposed to "<Title of original work> (<excerpted chapters>) (excerpt)" matching the way it is presented on the title pages. Let me know what you think and we can either merge (my preference) or make variants.
- The title of the essay "The Science-Fiction Magazine Begins Its Amazing Career" does not have an apostrophe in "Its". I've gone ahead and made the correction to the parent title, since that is the grammatically correct form.
- The Williamson Story "With Folded Hands . . ." does not contain the ellipses in the title and I've used that variant title in my copy.
I'll direct the other verifier here as well as the verifier of the Canadian edition. If we all agree. We should probably replace the content of the 2nd, unverified, Mentor printing with same content as I expect they are all actually identical. Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 00:53, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
- I've made similar changes to my copy (2nd printing) of #3 and added the introductory essays. Aside from the excerpts. I've changed the variant title of the Heinlein to match the title in my copy and changed the title of the introduction also using the form of Gunn's name used for the book. Was there some prior discussion linking the introduction of this book with the essay in Asimov's? I also think the canonical title should include the pound sign (#) with the other titles varianted. Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 02:36, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
The Silmarillion
Does your verified pub have a map titled 'The Realms of the Noldor and the Sindor'? My edition has it opposite page 120. Thanks for looking. PeteYoung 05:50, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
- The map is there. I added it and copied your note. Thanks! --Willem H. 20:48, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

CHAPTERBOOK records in series
I'm working on this script which finds CHAPTERBOOK records containing series data. You have primary verified all of the publications in this series, providing series data in the CHAPTERBOOK records. The latest clarification of the standards state that series data should be placed only on the contained SHORTFICTION records. I can see that those SHORTFICTION records are in a different series, making it impossible to change them to the name given in the current CHAPTERBOOK series. This is usually fixed by adding the publication records to a publication series which I see you have done here. This makes the CHAPTERBOOK series "Perry Rhodan (Dutch)" unnecessary. Please consider removing the series data from the CHAPTERBOOK records. Thanks. Mhhutchins 03:46, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
- It seemed to be a reasonable solution to get the first 6 titles in the series then. No problem, I removed the series data. --Willem H. 13:41, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Paul Lehr cover most likely identified
Hello, Willem! There seems to be no signature on your verified book, it was probably retouched, but there's one on a german publication of the art. Both Don Erikson and I read it as 'Lehr' (see also this item and look at the similarities in style here. Stonecreek 10:37, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
I'll go ahead and add the artist. Stonecreek 16:22, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
- Found the signature in the lower right corner. I adapted the notes. Thanks! --Willem H. 13:55, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Rappaccini's Other Daughter
I have made a few changes to "Rappaccini's Other Daughter", which can be found in your verified The Compleat Boucher (I also own a copy):
- Changed the spelling of Rappaccini's name from "Rappacini" to "Rappaccini"
- Added it to a new series, "Rappaccini", since it's a sequel to Nathaniel Hawthorne's "Rappaccini's Daughter"
- Created a VT for "Precis of the Rappaccini Report", which was apparently the title that was used in The Last Dangerous Visions table of contents.
Hopefully all of the changes, especially the first one, match what's in your pub! Ahasuerus 01:18, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for finding this! It's Rappaccini indeed, I must have overlooked this. There's no mention of The Last Dangerous Visions or the alternate title in the book. --Willem H. 11:35, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for checking! Ahasuerus 17:24, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
The Earth Book of Stormgate
Hi, the cover artist for this Berkley 1979 edition is Bob Fowke, since the cover art is the same as for Die Sirenen von Kalypso (Germany 1983). Thanks. Horzel 14:10, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! I added the artist and a note. --Willem H. 20:01, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Van Vogt and Hull's Out of the Unknown
I think we've got this title incorrectly listed as a collection when it should be an anthology. However, that raises issues about how the author(s) should be listed. Please see this discussion and weigh in if you wish. Thanks. --Ron ~ RtraceTalk 00:14, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
"Jupiter" publisher
You entered three books published by "Jupiter": Vol. 1, Vol. 2, and the unpublished Vol. 3 of "De Erfenis van Atlantis". As it turns out, there are three different publishers that have used the name "Jupiter". To follow the ISFDB rules on disambiguating such publishers, I have changed the publisher for these volumes to be "Jupiter (Netherlands)". I am hopeful that this is acceptable to you. Chavey 17:40, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
- I must have missed this when entering the books. Thanks for the correction! --Willem H. 19:23, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
Speaking of Science Fiction: The Paul Walker Interviews
Per ISFDB standards, the individual records for the interviews published in this collection should be dated for the dates of their original publication, not the dates of the interviews. Thanks. Mhhutchins 19:59, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- You're right. I'll correct the records. Thanks, --Willem H. 20:32, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Out of the Silent Planet
Replaced the image for [this], my copy does not have the price scratched out and I think the artist is Art Sussman. Check out the last two images from his [page]. Style speaks volumes. Cheers! --~ Bill, Bluesman 23:29, 26 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the new image. I think you're right about the artist. I added credit based on the signature (has been done before here). --Willem H. 21:42, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
100 Great Science Fiction Short Short Stories - Asimov

De Oorlog van Acht Uur
Hello, do you think possible that this text may be the same as that one, the french title means "The war of the evening news" (vingt-heures = the name of the 8 pm news on most of the french channels). Hauck 16:26, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- I think it's highly possible. The titles translate the same. The story in my edition is 13 pages (widely spaced) long. It is divided in 8 sections called "Aantekening" (note) 1-8. And should start with something like "Allow me to clear up this whole situation". Your edition was first, so mine should be the variant. --Willem H. 13:50, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- It seems that's the case, I'll variant the lot. Thanks for your research. Hervé Hauck 15:07, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
Publisher 'Horus'
Hello, Willem! A belated happy new year! I have renamed 'Horus' as 'Horus (Dutch)' for this pub., since there's now a English language publisher of that name, too. It seemed to me the most logical way to handle it, but you have a say in it, too! Thanks, Christian Stonecreek 15:35, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks Christian! And a happy new year to you too. Agree with you totally. --Willem H. 19:21, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Sunjammer
Hi Willem, In our mutually verified Analog 4 there's a story given presently as "57 • Sunjammer • [Flying Mountains] • (1964) • novelette by Poul Anderson [as by Winston P. Sanders ]". Perhaps we have different editions, but that story is given in my copy as by Poul Anderson. This three times: on copyright page, TOC and title page. Could you check your copy to see what is stated there?--Dirk P Broer 11:20, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
You're absolutely right. I changed the credit, also for the Doubleday edition (Contento has that one as by Poul Anderson as well). Thanks! --Willem H. 15:55, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
Mars Crossing
Before I make a variant of the cover artist, can you confirm that they are credited without the "Inc." in this publication? Thanks for checking. Mhhutchins 23:12, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- Only "The Chopping Block", no "Inc." in the credit. --Willem H. 07:20, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Castle of Wizardry
Can you confirm the price given in this verified record? It seems pretty high for that time period. I'm holding a submission to add an almost identical record with a price of £1.95. Thanks for checking. Mhhutchins 04:43, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
- You're right, it's £1.95. I must have cloned a later printing. Price corrected now. Thanks! --Willem H. 07:35, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

- Missed that one too. It's £1.95. Corrected now. Thanks! --Willem H. 19:40, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Demons of Sandorra
On the image of the cover for [this], just right of the 75¢ price is a 'target'. Is this printed on the cover or is it a sticker? Just picked up a copy that does not have this, instead are the letters 'MAC'. Otherwise the two editions seen identical. On the title page is a conglomeration of Award/Tandem logos and at the top of the spine is the number '426' [no idea what that denotes]. Thanks for checking! --~ Bill, Bluesman 02:19, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
- They are identical. I removed the sticker, and MAC appeared. No idea what 426 means, it's nearly bleached away on my copy anyway. Thanks, --Willem H. 07:17, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
- Interesting! Wonder what the sticker is for? Doesn't seem to represent a publisher ... Added some notes and a link to a second image [without the sticker]. If you can think of anything else to add ....?? Cheers! --~ Bill, Bluesman 02:29, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
Misaligned ISBN
Can you confirm that there is no ISBN-13 on this 2009 publication? Odds are that there isn't one (according to the OCLC record there isn't.) Some of these small-press publishers were years late in adopting the standard (which they should have done in January 2007!) If it only has an ISBN-10, please note that in the record so that future editors won't continue to bug you like this. :) Thanks for checking. Mhhutchins 03:18, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
Same question about the ISBN in this record? Mhhutchins 16:21, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
- Death of a Starship has both ISBN's on the copyright page and only the ISBN 13 on the barcode. In Nick and the Glimmung no ISBN 10 is mentioned. Both are corrected now. Thanks! --Willem H. 15:55, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
Conan of the Isles
Hi -- you verified this pub but my copy has slightly different wording on the copyright page: "First published in Great Britain by Sphere Books Ltd 1974". Can you let me know if this matches your copy? I'd like to change the notes. Thanks -- Mike Christie (talk) 00:25, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
- Also, this pub in that series has 192 pages in my edition, vs. 190 in your copy -- can you check? Also, same question as above about the wording on the copyright page. Mike Christie (talk) 00:48, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
- I'm starting to think that Sphere didn't reliably put reprint indications on their books. This pub has a different ISBN than yours, and my price is 35p, but your ISBN and mine (0-7221-4702-3) both bring up this title in searches elsewhere. Mine doesn't indicate a reprint on the copyright page, and yet it must be later than yours because of the price. Mine has 191 as the last page of text, instead of 190, though, and the same question about wording on the copyright page. Mike Christie (talk) 00:54, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
- You are right about the wording and the pagenumbers. I corrected all of them. Your copy of Conan the Conqueror is probably a second printing. I'm certain Sphere sometimes forgot to note the reprint on the copyright page.
- Please add any notes you think necessary. Thanks, --Willem H. 20:23, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. After looking through a couple more instances, I'm sure you're right about Sphere. Mike Christie (talk) 00:42, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
Thieves' World
Hi - I noticed you verified this pub, but you didn't mention a two page uncredited piece called "A Few Remarks by Furtwan Coinpinch, Merchant", which appears just before "Shadowspawn" in my US edition, and which is not listed in the contents page. Could you check to see if it's in your edition? Thanks. Mike Christie (talk) 15:36, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- In my edition it's only one page. To me it looks more like an introduction to "Shadowspawn", as by a character from the story. Shadowspan's Guide to Sanctuary even credits the piece to Offutt. I don't think it should be added as a separate entry. Thanks, --Willem H. 19:00, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
The Book of Robert E. Howard
I changed the designation of a piece of content for The Book of Robert E. Howard that you were the primary verifier of. You designated Etchings in Ivory as "shortfiction". It is a series of prose poems, so I suppose it could be classified as shortficition, but it is identical to three poetry collections with the same title. I reclassified it as "poem" and variented it to the collection. Several reviews had been attached to the "shortfiction"; I attached the reviews to the collection as well. If you have a problem with these changes, please let me know. Bob 20:47, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- I didn't actually read "The Book of Robert E. Howard", so to me this looked like shortfiction with some chapter titles. You're right, it should have been a series of poems. I see your edits are on hold by JLaTondre. I will ask him to reject them. Instead I will add the separate poems, and inform Don Erikson of the changes. I also linked Stanley S. Wiater's review to the collection, this was still attached to the shortfiction entry. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. --Willem H. 19:39, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
- Great way to handle it! I changed the "Etchings in Ivory" item from "POEM" to "COLLECTION"; I think it should be merged with the other collections of that name, but have not yet done so. Bob 18:17, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
That Hideous Strength
The [record] for above has $1.25 but the image [your upload] has $1.50??¿¿?? Just picked up what appears to be a first '65 printing with $1.50 price [though that seems absurdly high for '65 ...]. Thanks for checking! --~ Bill, Bluesman 23:32, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- I wonder where the price came from. Even Tuck has the first printing at $1.50. I must have missed it. Corrected now, and I also added the introduction. Thanks! --Willem H. 19:19, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Vlaamse Griezelverhalen / Histoires noires et fantastiques
Hi. I'm not sure that Jean Ray's Vlaamse Griezelverhalen (1964) should be considered as a variant of Histoires noires et fantastiques, the existence of which only starts in 1993, and the contents of which are considerably different, as you can see here and here. Don't you think they should be considered as two separate publications ? Thanks. Linguist 13:04, 16 February 2014 (UTC).
- The copyright page states it's a translation of "Histoires Noires et Fantastiques", so that's how I entered it in the database. You're right, it can't be a translation of a 1993 title. Looks like it's about half of Les 25 meilleures histoires noires et fantastiques though, so I varianted the translation to that title, and deleted the 1964 collection. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. --Willem H. 20:17, 16 February 2014 (UTC)
