Verifications

Hi, and welcome. I saw your note to the moderator that said, in part: "Please mark as Primary (Transient)...". A moderator can't mark something verified for someone else. You have to wait for the submission to be approved, then go do any verification(s). You'll see if you go here (for 'Salem's Lot), there are only buttons for marking verified, no way to say who -- it's always the person who turns on the "Verified" button. --MartyD 02:37, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

"Cerbo in Vitra Ujo" or "Cerbo en Vitra Ujo"

These records should not be merged, because according to most sources the story was titled differently in each publication. The ISFDB method is to make one a variant of the other. Since it appears as "Cerbo in Vitra Ujo" on the author's website bibliography, I will make that the parent record title, and "Cerbo en Vitra Ujo" as the variant. In the future do not attempt to merge title records unless the titles are identical or unless you have verifiable evidence that one of the records is incorrectly titled. Thanks. Linking uploaded images to the database record

Thanks for uploading cover images to the ISFDB wiki. The next step is to link those images to the records of the books for which these are the covers. As the instructions (step 6) explain:

Once the file has been uploaded, the image's wiki page will appear. In order to get the URL (address) for the image you just uploaded, left click anywhere on the image and copy the URL from your browser's address window. (Or right click on the image and choose "Copy Image Location".) If you're adding a cover image to a pub record, this is the URL which you would enter into the pub record's "Image URL" field.

So once you have the image's URL, go back to the pub record (it's linked on the image's wiki page) and then click the "Edit This Pub" link under the Editing Tools menu. This opens up an edit page. Under the Publication Metadata section, there's a field labeled "Image URL:" Enter the URL of the image you uploaded into this field, and then click on the "Submit Data" button at the bottom of the page. Once the submission has been moderated the cover image will be linked to the publication record.

I have linked this image to this record. Please keep these instructions in mind when adding any future cover image files to the ISFDB. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 03:25, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

I accepted the submission adding this record but removed the data from the publication series field. Vampire Plagues / Vampire Dusk is a title series, not a publication series. (The book's title record is already in the series.) Please read this page which explains the difference. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks.

A question: does your copy mention anything about being a book club edition? We already have a record for this title with a different ISBN and price, but was published the same month by Scholastic. Thanks for looking. Mhhutchins 02:19, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

To respond to this message, click on the "[edit]" link to the right. Enter your response in the dialogue box which opens. Start your message with a colon (:) which separates and indents it from the previous message making it easier to follow the discussion. In successive messages, add another colon to the number in the previous message. End your entry with four tildes (~~~~), which will automatically "sign" and date your message. Digital Fortress

Does this book explicitly give the publication date as 2004? The first St. Martin's Paperbacks edition was published in 2004 also, but 14 printings in one year, even by Dan Brown, seems high. Thanks for checking. Mhhutchins 22:07, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

Notes Formatting

I accepted your changes to Misery, but I had to edit the notes. Using a return (i.e. the "enter" key) within notes does not cause a line break to appear. Due to the way web pages work, it will show up all on the same line. You need to use basic HTML formatting with the notes field (in this case <br> for a line break). A very recent change in software now allows the use of the "enter" key to create a new line visible in the displayed record. You no longer need to use HTML to create a new line. (Now if you want to create bullets, that will still need HTML.) Thanks. Mhhutchins 16:44, 29 March 2014 (UTC)

Cover image file limitations
