Untouched by Human Hands

You attempted to edit Untouched by Human Hands to add page numbers. Unfortunately, you did so by overwriting the existing titles of the content records. This affects all occurrences of the database records for those stories, and would have the effect of changing the entry for "Cost of Living" (for example) so that it had the title "Monsters" in every apperence. Please see Help:Screen:EditPub#General contents for more information on this issue. i am going to reject your submisison, since it would create errors in the database, but I will use the information you submitted first to insert page numbers.

I have now made the entry changing the page numbers, Please visit Untouched by Human Hands to see if it now matches your copy. I note that you apparently wanted to change "Shape" to "Keep Your Shape". "Keep Your Shape" is already recorded as a variant of "Shape", and if the story is so titled in your publication we can make the proper adjustment to record that fact. See Help: How to record a variant title for more on this situation.

Please do let me know if your publication says "Keep Your Shape" as the title of this story.

Also, when the record exactly matches your copy, you can verify it. This marks for othres that the record has been checked by you against a physical copy and confirmed correct. See Help: How to verify data for more information

I have dealt with "Keep Your Shape". If you look at the record for "Shape", you will see it is a k nown variant title. I added a new record for "Keep Your Shape", removed the record for "Shape" and merged the new record for "Keep Your Shape" with the existing record 187267. This multi-step process is somewhat tedious for a non-moderator to do. Please visit Untouched by Human Hands to see if it now matches your copy, and verify it if appropriate. As for your question, the title of the story as appeared in the collection I have is exactly "Keep Your Shape".

The Robert Sheckley Omnibus

Hi,Is Robert Conquest credited as editor on this pub[1].(cover or title page)? Thanks! One other thing, when you want to add page numbers just click "Edit this pub" and fill in the page numbers. The system will sort automatically. By adding new content and then using the remove title key means I have to remerge the new records with the page numbers. You would use this method to make a correction of a title that is wrong by adding the correct title then removing the incorrect title but what ever you do don't change an authors name or title just add the page numbers. The Other

You recently submitted, and I approved a new publication: The Other by Thomas Tryon. I have a procedural note about this.

We already had a title record that covered several other printings of this book. In such a case it is better to do a search on the title, or the author, and find the title record. Check whether the publication you have is already recorded. If not, Then you can click on "Add a publication to this title" and your new publication is automatically placed under the proper title record. If we already have a record for the same publication, you can simply edit that to add any missing information and correct any incorrect information. If you simply use "New novel" then an entirely new title record as well as a new publication record will be created, and then the two title records will have to be merged. i have already done the merge in this case (See Help: How to merge titles and Help: How to clone a publication for more information.)

The ISFDB is a very complex system that is not as well documented as we could wish. (All the help was written by volunteers just like you and me.) Don't worry that some of the subtleties take time to master. You are getting data recorded and publications verified, and that is the important thing.
