Welcome!

Hello, Silverhilt, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 15:03, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

The Raven's Banquet

I've accepted the submission to add an ebook edition of this novel. But can find no corroborating evidence of a paperback edition. It's not for sell on Amazon.co. uk, nor are there copies for sell on Abebooks.com, or a listing on WorldCat (OCLC). And although the publisher gives an ISBN for a print edition on its website, it's only selling the ebook edition. Is your copy an advance proof?

I've made the following changes to record for the ebook edition, based on ISFDB standards which are linked in the Welcome section above.

  • Replaced the link to an unpermitted website to the image on Amazon.
  • Changed the publisher name to Solaris, the ISFDB designation for this publisher. (Title page gives the publisher as "Solaris" according to the Amazon Look Inside.)
  • Added a publication date (from the Amazon listing)
  • Removed the number from the page count field (KIndle-formatted ebooks don't have a set number of pages, they're user defined)
  • Added Notes to include the Amazon ASIN.

Please let me know by responding here about the paperback edition. I can't hold the submission for long. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 15:03, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

There is a limited edition paperback sold exclusively by arrangement with the publisher at ForbiddenPlanet.com and their shops in the UK. This explains why it doesn't turn up on Amazon. I will check with the publisher as to why there is no WorldCat listing for the book. ThanksSilverhilt 10:27, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
WorldCat records are created by librarians. If this edition was never available to libraries, it's unlikely that they'd have a record. Thanks for the info. I'll accept the submission and add a note about the availability of the limited edition. BTW, I'm assuming this is a trade paperback (more than 7 inches or 18 centimeters tall) and not a mass market paperback. We differentiate between them. I'll change that as well. Thanks for that. And yes, it is a trade paperback format.Silverhilt
