Welcome!

Hello, Shimbo, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 23:40, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Revolutions 2

I accepted your addition of Revolutions 2, but made some changes to match ISFDB standards:

  • Changed the publisher to "Manchester Speculative Fiction Group" based on the copyright page via Amazon Look Inside. CreateSpace is not a traditional publisher (consider it more of a printer) and we use the credited publisher in the book
  • Changed the ISBN to the ISBN13. We use the number that is actually assigned vs. the translated number.
  • Removed the pub series. The ISFDB differentiates publisher series (publisher level series like Ballantine Adult Fantasy) from title series (universe or groupings of books independent of publisher like Dune Universe).
  • Changed the format to "tp" (trade paperback) based on the Amazon supplied dimensions
  • I added the table of contents per Amazon Look Inside. As there can be difference between the Amazon Looks Inside and the actual pub, please verify the page number and spellings since you have verified the pub.

We appreciate your submission. ISFDB has some conventions that need learning so please check out the help links in the welcome message above. We hope you will continue to contribute. And please let us know if you have any questions (ISFDB:Help desk is a good resource for asking). -- JLaTondre (talk) 08:56, 29 April 2020 (EDT)

Thanks for your edits on this which were very helpful. I agree that Manchester Speculative Fiction Group is the publisher of Revolutions 2as it was for Revolutions, and the other edits are fine.
I don't really understand about the series? Revolutions and Revolutions 2 are a series produced by Manchester Speculative Fiction Group, with me as editor of both?

We differentiate between what we call publisher series and title series. For our purposes, Revolutions is a title series and is entered on the title record (see Revolutions 2's title record where it is entered), not on the publication record. If you look at your author page, you will see an anthology series called Revolutions with both anthologies shown. A publisher series is not shown on an author's page and will only show on a publisher's page (example). A given series may only be ever published by a single publisher, but that doesn't make it a publisher series. A publisher series is for a grouping of books that a publisher uses across multiple authors, editors, etc. One way to look at it is, if another publisher acquired the rights to a book and republished it, would it still be part of the series? If yes, it's a title series. Hopefully that helps.
I moved your post from my talk page to here. We try to keep conversations grouped so that it is easier for people to follow. If someone posts on a page, it is expected that they will watch it (using the wiki's watch function) for responses. You only need to write on the posters page if there is a delay in responding. Let me know if you have more questions. -- JLaTondre (talk) 19:24, 29 April 2020 (EDT)
Okay, thanks for the explanation. Shimbo 08:04, 30 April 2020 (EDT)
