Welcome!

Hello, Sanjo, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Hauck 17:01, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Blood + Pearls

Hello, I've approved your submission but had to make some changes to conform to our standards:

  • changed publisher to Infinity Publishing (ISBN 7414 matches).
  • deleted the "ISBN" bit from the ISBN field (it's no use to repeat the term).
  • uploaded a scan into our system as we're not allowed to deeplink to the specified website.

The result is here, you can add the number of pages (as you own the book), any comments that you deem interesting in the notes and eventually a INTERIORART record corresponding to the interior illustrations (as they seem to exist). Thanks for contributing. Hauck 17:12, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

I've approved the other two titles and uploaded the corresponding scans. I still had to correct the ISBN field (just enter the digits) and to regularize the publisher (no ".com" at the end). The correct way to upload images is explained here (use the Semi-automated Procedure). Hauck 17:48, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
Added Archive.org link, added interior artist, fixed price to $17.95. --Username (talk) 10:17, 26 February 2024 (EST)

Super Science Stories, July 1950

I added Finlay's artwork to Super Science Stories, July 1950. Instead of placing the information in the moderator's note, feel free to edit the publication record. If you have this magazine, it would be appreciated if you could add the missing information (page numbers, cover art, other interior art, etc.). Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 17:05, 1 August 2018 (EDT)

I also updated Super Science Stories, November 1942 based on the Archive.org link. Thanks for pointing this out. I will go through the scans and update our records over the next few days. -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:27, 1 August 2018 (EDT)

Rocket Stories #3

Hi, I had approved your submission, but had to delete it afterwards because the entry is already in our database here. It is perhaps handy to open it in edit mode, to see how things ought to be entered accoring to our -sometimes incomprehensible for new users- standards . Next time, check our magazine directory to see if the magazine is known, and check whether you can find the correct issue. As an added safety, check where the stories were published. That last check of course only applies when adding old magazines.--Dirk P Broer 18:00, 22 August 2018 (EDT)

Fantastic, December 1971

Hello. I've accepted your submission, but had to make few corrections. For authors and artists alike, only the author/artist's name should be entered in the designated field. All additional information, such as the comment you made in the Moderator Note field, should go into the Notes field instead to clarify source of the information being added (in this case the artist credits). I've moved these notes too - the result is here. Cheers! MagicUnk 15:59, 5 May 2020 (EDT)

Other Worlds Science Stories, May 1957

When you have details like the ones you added in the moderator note, you can just add them in the notes directly. I edited lightly and added them here - feel free to expand and/or change the notes. Thanks for submitting the notes! Annie 03:06, 2 June 2020 (EDT)

Planet of the Small Men / Masters of Space

Hello. I've your submissions [1] and [2] on hold as I don't understand what you want to do here. Can you

  • tell me if the first edit [3] was wrong, and should be rejected? (by the way, you can do that yourself to click on My Pending Edits and cancelling any erroneous submission yourself!), and
  • explain which site you are referring to for the confirmation Earle or Phil Berry is the cover art artist?

You can answer by clicking the edit at the right of this message's title. Thanks! MagicUnk 15:55, 21 October 2020 (EDT)

MagicUnk, see Thrilling Wonder Stories, April 1950 and If, November 1961.
  • For the second submission, the image is for the back cover and we don't treat Armchair Fiction's as dos publications, it needed to be entered as interior art. The submission also has the publication name as part of the artist name (it should just the artist name). As such, I made the appropriate edits to the pub and the this submission on hold can be rejected.
  • For the first submission, we don't have a credit for the Thrilling Wonder Stories cover. Sanjo, do you have another source for the credit?
Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 12:00, 30 October 2020 (EDT)
I've rejected the second submission per above. Thanks, MagicUnk 14:06, 30 October 2020 (EDT)
As we haven't received a reply for over two months as to the source of the artist credit to Earle Bergey for the Planet of the Small Men cover, I've rejected your submission. If you would read this in the future, do contact me over at my talk page, or go the the Community Portal with your answer to JLaTondre's question above. If, July 1954

Thank you for finding the correct credit in this submission. However, I was not able to accept that submission as it. When a publication makes an error in credit, we use the publications credit and add " (in error)". We then variant that to the correct artist. We also add a publication note explaining how it was determined to be a publication error. I such, I had to reject your submission, but I made the changes and you can see the result here. -- JLaTondre (talk) 12:43, 21 November 2021 (EST)

Thrilling Wonder Stories, October 1950

Someone started updating and left the complicated ones on its own :) The problem with the remaining one is that a few Finlay publications seems to think it is his - see the list of the variants. Let me try to chase a few of the PVs of the later books so we can figure out what is going on and how exactly it is identified in these books and then I will see how to update that so it is clear what is going on. i can fix the magazine easily but that will cause issues for these additional titles - so I need to fix them all at the same time. Always fun when things get misidentified. I will keep your note on Hold so I do not forget to chase people. :) Annie 05:45, 22 November 2021 (EST)

Fixed after comparing the 3 images in the magazine with the Finlay one in the book and not finding a match. Thanks for identifying the problem. :) Annie 17:31, 22 November 2021 (EST)
