Welcome!

Hello, Rreett, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 11:51, 7 October 2018 (EDT)

Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine, Summer 1977

I have placed your edit to Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine, Summer 1977 on hold since it has been verified by multiple people. It is ISFDB etiquette that verifiers I notified of major changes (such as adding content). We have found that it makes things smoother (while less often occurring with magazines, it is not uncommon to find different printings / editions where a new record should be created). I have notified one of the verifiers and once they respond, I will process the edit. We do appreciate your submission. ISFDB has some conventions that need learning, but everything should be in the help links in the welcome message above. We hope you will continue to contribute. And please let us know if you have any questions (ISFDB:Help desk is a good resource for asking). -- JLaTondre (talk) 11:51, 7 October 2018 (EDT)

It has been approved. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 16:10, 7 October 2018 (EDT)

Brakrath

Hi, I have a submission on hold from you where you want to make the short story 'Mountain Wings' part of the -not-existing- Brakrath series. What is the exact relation between this story and the existing Daughters of the Sunstone series?--Dirk P Broer 06:21, 18 March 2020 (EDT)

My bad. Wanted to make a series for the Brakrath tales in Asimov's SFM, and forgot to check if the series did not already exist under a different name. It does appear Mountain Wings and the other short stories are part of the Daughters of the Sunstone series, but I'll hold off editing the related files until I can get a hold of the novels. --Rreett 15:05, 18 March 2020 (EDT)
I have the Penguin editions of the novels, can I be of any help?--Dirk P Broer 18:56, 19 March 2020 (EDT)
Just wanted to see if the short stories didn't belong to a separate subseries, but it seems unlikely. --Rreett 23:06, 20 March 2020 (EDT)

Rest letter credit in Asimov's

Hi. Sorry for the delay in handling your submission proposing to add the Neil Rest letter credit to the November 23, 1981 Asimov's. I've placed it on hold while I consult the rest of the moderating corps. That publication has a single "Letters" entry by "various" that's intended to cover all of the letters. I'm not sure we want to add specific letters unless they're by authors otherwise of spec-fic note. I will follow up soon. Thanks. --MartyD 11:31, 2 May 2020 (EDT)

Sorry about the delay. I've accepted it. Thanks! --MartyD 07:55, 3 May 2020 (EDT)

Beyond Fantasy Fiction, July 1953

And what is the source of this update? We need the source in either the notes (if it makes sense) or the moderator notes so someone can recheck all the numbers (typos happen). Unless you are working off the magazine itself and plan to verify - in which case that's what need to be said in the moderator notes. Thanks! :) Annie 03:35, 20 October 2021 (EDT)

My source is a scan of the magazine (might take a minute to load). I apologize for this oversight and will make sure to include links to the primary source in the moderator notes when editing isfdb in the future. --Rreett 18:17, 20 October 2021 (EDT)
No worries :) If any of the PVs was active I would have sent you to them to discuss the changes (that's our courtesy policy) - they can pull their copies and compare. As they are not, the approving moderator is your second set of eyes :) As one of the PVs is around occasionally, I left them a note: it is a good idea to do that when big changes are made.
As a few of the artists were credited with their pseudonyms, there is some varianting to do now. Do you know how to do that or do you want me to assist (by doing it or by explaining how)?
And thanks for fixing our record! The end result is here. :) Annie 18:26, 20 October 2021 (EDT)
I've done some varianting before so I got it, and I'll do my best to keep the PVs in mind --Rreett 22:44, 20 October 2021 (EDT)

The Future Fire, June 2013

Thank you for submitting this issue of The Future Fire. You will notice I made a couple changes. Titles need to be formatted 'Magazine Title, Date'. I know you followed the earlier issues; they don't meet present standards. Coincidentally I have been working on this. When you create the initial record, make sure you add the series in the title record section. It will usually be the magazine title. We don't enter anything in the pages field for ebooks. Put all your notes in the publication record not the title record section. We merge all the titles by year. It is much cleaner to put your web links in the webpages field. Take advantage of all the information on the website. The missing artist credit was on the webpage for this issue. Magazines can be tricky. Feel free to ask if anything needs further clarification John Scifibones 22:20, 17 May 2022 (EDT) P.S. If we didn't know the month, then the year and issue number for disambiguation would be okay.
