Welcome!

Hello, RS, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! BLongley 15:58, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Xenos

I'm holding the submissions adding several issues of this title into the database, because of a few questions and concerns. First, are the majority of this magazine's contents speculative fiction? I ask because it is not indexed in Miller and Contento's Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Weird Fiction Magazine Index. If it is a general fiction magazine only the spec-fic stories should be entered. Another thing, many of the submissions give the page count as 70-80. Does this mean you're not certain of the exact page count? If so, please leave the field blank. Also you give the issue number in the publication field. That number should go into the title field. For example, my research has shown that this issue (the one submission I accepted), is dated August 1994. So the title should be "Xenos, #26 August 1994". This gives the issue a unique title, so it doesn't get confused with other issues, all of which you titled simply as "Xenos". The submissions will be held so that you can respond here on your talk page. Click the "Edit" link, add a colon to separate your message from mine, type in your response and then sign with four tildes (~~~~). Thanks. Mhhutchins 23:07, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Wasn't Xenos a fanzine? Ahasuerus 23:16, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
Er, never mind, I was thinking of Xero. Let's call it a senior moment... Ahasuerus 01:37, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
Also, "70-80" may be from the FictionMags Web site which lists the contents of many issues. Ahasuerus 23:16, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
Doesn't that favor it being a general fiction magazine then? Otherwise, wouldn't Contento have listed it in his index, since he's involved in the FictionMags group too? I can find nothing on the internet about the title, other than the FictionMags listing. Mhhutchins 23:55, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
It sounds reasonable, but their tables of contents on the FictionMags Web site look SF-oriented and I see some professionally published SF authors among the contributors. Hopefully RS will chime in and shed additional light on the situation. Ahasuerus 01:37, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
