Welcome!

Hello, Peadarog, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! BLongley 01:57, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Black Gate

Thanks for the submission! Here's the review and comments on your first attempt - don't be disheartened, it's actually a pretty good start. :-)

The title "Black Gate" needs to be a bit clearer about which issue it is. We've only got Black Gate: Adventures in Fantasy Literature, Summer 2001 and Black Gate, Spring 2007 so far, but one or the other format is a good guideline.
"Tag" - leave that alone, the system will generate one for the publication. It's supposed to be unique, so "Fantasy" isn't a good choice.
"Price US$7.99" is fine by me, but someone else might tell you that "$" prices are assumed to be US dollars by default. Our Canadian editors haven't kicked up much of a fuss over that so far though. ;-)
Cover image looks good, but do you have permission to use Blackgate's images? Some sites are happy to let us use their images, sometimes with a link-back requirement.
PubSeriesNum "1" looks sensible, but not without a PubSeries that it can be number 1 of.

Anyway, welcome aboard, and I look forward to more entries. Thanks for editing! BLongley 02:25, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

OK, I've whacked it around a bit and the result is here. I added the page numbers that Locus records for this issue, and adjusted the dates to the on-sale date (November 2000) from the Black Gate website. (We normally use cover date, but when it's a quarterly it helps to put a more specific date on so they sort right.) I've also uploaded the cover here so that we don't have to use Black Gate's servers. One question - you've listed five cover artists. Are the last four actually for interior art? If so, they should be put in as contents with the name of the piece they're illustrating. 14:26, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
