Welcome!

Hello, On3man, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 14:00, 9 July 2019 (EDT)

Birthright by Rick Partlow

Thanks for submitting this work. Since you are new to ISFDB, here are a couple tips for entering new information:

  • When no publisher is listed, or it is listed as "CreateSpace", enter the author's name as the publisher. I have done this for you on Birthright.
  • When entering the URL for a cover from Amazon, remove the extra formatting part that Amazon adds. For example, for Birthright, the URL for the cover image was originally entered as "https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51GFe7LcpsL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg". The part with the underscores can be removed, giving this: "https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51GFe7LcpsL.jpg".

If you have any questions, please let me know. I'm happy to help out however we can. (^_^) ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe 14:06, 9 July 2019 (EDT)

$£€¥ - currency signs

Hi, those currency signs are really needed in an international database, so please enter them when submitting a publication. I guessed that the two publications you entered were in US dollars.--Dirk P Broer 03:11, 10 July 2019 (EDT)

Birthright: The Complete Trilogy

A few changes to your submitted Birthright: The Complete Trilogy

  • Subtitles are added after :, not after commas.
  • For ebooks, we leave the number of pages empty and instead add a note about the number.
  • When adding Kindle books, always add the ASIN in the external identifiers section.
  • The price should always be the list price, regardless of how much you paid or Amazon asks for these days :)

Now what remains is to import the novels into the record. Do you need assistance with that or would you like to try? Welcome to ISFDB! Annie 22:11, 16 July 2019 (EDT)

And approved. And then I merged the titles to their proper titles. When you are adding omnibuses or other containers, instead of typing, you can use the Import functionally. Open the publication and look at the left menu, almost at the bottom. Thee is a link for import. :) when you just add them as you did here, they need merging later. Either way works, importing tends to be less prone to typos. Thanks for adding the book and do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions. Annie 23:19, 16 July 2019 (EDT)

Thanks Annie. I've had experience with Wikis before, very limited years ago on Wikipedia and more recently on WikiTree, but we never used talk pages at Wikitree and the db is a much simpler construct, so all of this including these talk pages are new to me. You moderators are very patient with me as a newbie. John
