Welcome!

Hello, Oceane2018, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!.--Dirk P Broer 15:30, 29 December 2019 (EST)

DEVIANCE to Déviance

Hi, I accepted your submission, but I had to de-capitalize the title and author name as per our rules (see the wiki mentioned in the welcome post). I also unquoted the price and replaced the supplied cover link with one that we have permission to use (again: see the wiki, mentioned in the welcome post).--Dirk P Broer 06:08, 30 December 2019 (EST)

Entering a novel in ISFDB

Hi, I wonder if you have taken time to read http://www.isfdb.org/wiki/index.php/Help:Getting_Started:Enter_a_Novel, but there are a few things that go wrong when you enter a novel. Firstly, the price. http://www.isfdb.org/wiki/index.php/Template:PublicationFields:Price as you can read you have to use a period, not a comma (the database originates in the USA). Secondly, the cover image. http://www.isfdb.org/wiki/index.php/ISFDB:Image_linking_permissions as you can see you can not merely enter any url. I always replace them for you with the Amazon.fr image. Thirdly, the ISBN/ASIN. You enter both, while the ASIN you give points to the ebook version -which is another entry in our database. Lastly, the artist. http://www.isfdb.org/wiki/index.php/Help:Screen:NewPub#Cover_Art There you make two mistakes: you begin with illustration, which is unneeded, and then you enter adobestock. We like to enter the name of the artist there, or his/her pseudonym.--Dirk P Broer 10:01, 18 January 2020 (EST)

Le Bal du Léviathan

I approved your submission for Le Bal du Léviathan, but had to remove the cover scan, which was from a source that has not given ISFDB permission to use its scans. Bob 20:08, 20 January 2021 (EST)

This record actually needed a lot more cleanup:
  • The price needs to use . and not , regardless of the currency.
  • The ASIN field is for ASINs that do not match the ISBN10 of the book and not for a link to the Amazon page. In this case, the book’s ASIN is ISBN10 so the field needs to be empty.
  • When adding an artist, add just the name and not “illustrator : Name”.
All of those had been fixed. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Annie 22:40, 20 January 2021 (EST)
A few more changes on the title level:
  • The link to this exact edition on the publisher page goes to the publication and not the title so I moved it.
  • I removed the synopsis and the note - they need to be written in English and in the case of the note, all it was saying was that it was the third novel in the series. If you want to rewrite the synopsis in English, you can submit it again.
Thanks for the understanding and please do not hesitate to post if you have any questions. Annie 22:51, 20 January 2021 (EST)

Le grand dessein

A few changes were needed to this one:

  • Synopsis must always be in English.
  • Cleaned all the links from the title level - one went to the series, the rest were stores.
  • Added source and fixed the image - we cannot link to the publisher site.
  • The ASIN field is for books that have ASIN different from ISBN10.
  • Fixed the capitalization (we follow French rules for French)

The result is here. Let me know if you have any questions. Annie 18:49, 11 October 2021 (EDT)

La quête du Dragaãnh

Hello. I apologize that I do not know French. I accepted your submission La quête du Dragaãnh, but some changes were required.

  • For non-English titles, we apply the native language's capitalization rules. I changed "la quête du dragaãnh" to "La quête du Dragaãnh". I hope that is correct for French. If it is not, please fix it.
  • The "Transliteration" field holds the same title, but with non-Latin characters replaced with Latin equivalents. It is not for a translation into English. I replaced the translation with a transliteration.
  • Prices should use "." instead of "," as the decimal separator.
  • The URL you provided for the cover image is to a site where the ISFDB does not have linking permission. I replaced it with a copy I downloaded from the 5 Sens site.
  • The Synonpsis and Notes should be in English. I replaced the French synopsis you provided with an English version from Google Translate. See herePlease review and correct.

I have fixed all of these things. Please review -- especially the synopsis! -- and fix anything that is not as it should be. Thank you, and thank you for contributing. --MartyD 08:50, 27 December 2021 (EST)

Similar things do apply to "La Résurrection du Mauhl'Ahm' (corrrectly 'La résurrection du Mauhl'Ahm'). Will correct them. Thanks, Christian Stonecreek (talk) 15:02, 3 November 2022 (EDT)
