Welcome!

Hello, Noart, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Ahasuerus 23:30, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Próg nieśmiertelności

Just a note that at this time we enter all synopsis information in English. Also, the text as submitted appears to be a publisher-provide blurb. Would it be possible to provide a short non-spoiler synopsis instead? Thanks for editing! Ahasuerus 23:33, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

I am afraid I will have to reject the submission since it's been more than a week. For reference purposes, here is the synopsis that you submitted on 2013-01-28:
  • Gdzie przeprowadzić granicę pomiędzy życiem a jego brakiem? Czy istnieje wyraźna linia oddzielająca psychikę człowieka a sztuczny twór będący jej repliką? I w rezultacie: w którym miejscu kończy się nasze człowieczeństwo? Te wszystkie pytania można by zadać czytając kolejną powieść Krzysztofa Borunia.
The series name that you used was "Fantastyka-Przygoda", which was a publication series according to the Polish Wikipedia, so I have added this information to the 1975 edition of the book. Thanks for submitting it! Ahasuerus 03:04, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

Ósmy krąg piekieł

Just a note that I have approved the addition of a cover scan to this publication record. Since the publication was verified by User:Zoltar last February, I left a note on his Talk page about the addition. In the future, when you change/update a verified publication, could you please notify the primary verifier(s)? Thanks in advance! Ahasuerus 23:50, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Bydgoszcz: Part of the publisher's name?

Hello, Noart, thanks for contributing! I have put your submission regarding the novel Arlekin on hold. As an unknower, Bydgoszcz seems to me as a name, but it is part of the name of SF Club "Maskon", or is it maybe the name of a town. In the last case it shouldn't be part of the publisher's name (publishers do move, but they'd stay the same publisher, wouldn't they). Please answer here, so I can approve of your submission (and maybe change this field). Thanks, Stonecreek 15:28, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

The same holds for Wiek żelazny, where the town is even known to me ;-). Please do respond: communication is essential for ISFDB. Stonecreek 15:29, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
There's also the problem of obtaining information on binding, ISBN, price and other data as well the contents. Please answer here. I will have to reject your submissions otherwise. Come on, don't hesitate! (I'll wait for three days more) Stonecreek 19:00, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, but I had to reject your submissions after waiting. Stonecreek 06:35, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Duplicate submission

You made a second submission to add the same publication to the database for Dom na granicy światów. Please wait until the submission can be moderated. You can see which of your submissions that are in the queue by clicking on the link "My Pending Edits". I have rejected the second submission and am working on the first one. Dom na granicy światów

I have you submission to add a publication of this title to the database. There are several problems with the submission:

  • The author is given as "Hodgson William Hope". You should give the author credit exactly as it is given on the book's title page. I'm assuming it should be "William Hope Hodgson". I will correct the record.
  • Do not give the city of publication in the Publisher field. It should just be "Czytelnik". I'll fix that.
  • You did not give the source for your data in the record's Note field. I'm assuming you're not working from the book in hand, otherwise you would have entered the publication's format into the submission. All records must be sourced unless you have the actual book. That data must be provided in the Note field. I've found an OCLC record for this title and will give that as the source of the data.
  • You entered the cover art credit in the Note field. It should be entered in the Artist1 field. I'll move the credit to the proper field.

The questions you asked in the Note to Moderator field should have been asked on the Help Desk page. Please bookmark the link and post questions there about editing records and creating new records for the database. There are also help links in the Welcome section above.

Now to answer your questions: once the publication record has been accepted into the database, you should go to the translated title record and make it into a variant of the parent title record. When I've fixed the record I'll come back and give you the links to the publication record and its title record. Mhhutchins 00:50, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

Here is the publication record for the book you just submitted. Now go to its title record and click on the link "Make This Title a Variant Title or Pseudonymous Work" under the Editing Tools menu. On the next page enter the record number of the parent title in the first empty field. That number is 75. Then click "Link to Existing Parent". Mhhutchins 00:53, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks a lot :). Do I have to wait for a record number of parent title when I submit a polish translation of original title? Or is there a way for me to get the number myself, everytime I submit a new title? Noart 23:39, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Dom na granicy światów - answer

Ok, thank you, I just need to learn all of this :). I even don't know, if I may answer you in this place ;) - but I can see no other way so far... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Noart (talkcontribs) .

Yes, this is the place you respond to messages left on your user talk page, but they should be responded to individually, not in a separate posting. To the right of each topic there is an [edit] link. You should click on that, which opens up a dialog box. Type in your response in the box, and then type four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your message. This will automatically sign and date the message. Then click the "Save Page" button. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 00:08, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
You now should follow the instructions I gave you above to have the Polish title become a variant of the English title. Thanks. Mhhutchins 00:09, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
