At this point, [1] which of the 5 sub-contents listed above are included in the 1999 edition? The letter from Tenniel and the Steadman interiorart are in doubt.

[2] If the letter is included, is that a facsimile? Does it say where it was first published? Or whether it was published with the recently-discovered shortfiction and the editorial contents by Martin Gardner in their 1st ed., which is known to be the spring/summer 1977 US chapbooks P659791 (Lewis Carroll Society of North America, 2 formats with only one publication record in the database at the moment)? --Pwendt|talk 14:43, 15 April 2018 (EDT)

I located a library-bound copy of Carroll Studies, including #2 with original covers (no spine), from which I am in progress adding the 1st ed. It does include a facsimile of the illustrated 1870 letter, followed by transcript, on three pages. The Epistolary History by Alex Shvartsman (and another story by him)

Hello, I have an unresolved problem with the possible German translation of this story, as there's no original title stated (only an issue of Nature, but that seems to be erroneous, as the stated one published a story by Ken Liu). I did the varianting to the most likely story, that was also published here. It should be an erroneous time travel story, told in letters to an ever-alternating Cat or Katharina/Katherine, somewhat reminiscent of a classic R. A. Lafferty yarn. Could you take a look at it? Hi, there's also "Coffee in End Times", which we have as by him (in the collection Explaining Cthulhu to Grandma and Other Stories), and as by Alvaro Zinos-Amaro & him (see here). Is there any note on the co-author or somethin similar in the collection? I do ask this question, because this way it could be determined if the titles should be varianted or merged. Chinese authors

Can you help with Chinese authors? I apologize for asking, but I don't know who else to consult since Linguist isn't around. This book needs the authors sorted out: directory entry set to surname, Chinese writing of the name added, and matched up with other variations of the name that may be in our records. 1632 page numbers

Hi. You verified a copy of 1632 in a 2014 edition P435163. If I understand correctly, the page numbers should be "bp" for the "(frontispiece)" title, which represents the frontispiece of this book, and something like "1" or "|1" for the novel.

Do you know why we use "bp" for front pages in contrast to "bep" and "bc" for back endpapers and back cover?

Verified Little Wizard Stories of Oz ISBN 0-688-12126-8

You have both of P262561 and P181717 marked as primary verifications. You have not provided the contents for these except for an introduction my Peter Glassman. I created a submission to import contents from the series S25177 using page numbering from "Amazon Look Inside!" for the six stories . I also note that the copyright page from "Amazon Look Inside!" credits Peter Glassman to an "Afterword" and not an "Introduction". Based on the "Amazon Look Inside!", I can see this "Afterword" at pages 161–169. This one was never collected into a compilation volume as far as I can tell. It was only serialized in the magazine.

Even if it was never collected, the parent still should not be saved as a Serial - the parent of a serial should always be either a novel or short fiction (depending on the length). I would like to add lengths to the stories in Writers of the Future, Volume 34. My guess would be that they are all short stories except that "The Minarets of An-Zabat," "Odd and Ugly," "Mara's Shadow," and "All Light and Darkness" would be novelettes; does that seem right given the number of words per page in the book? And two other questions. Is "The Death Flyer" by L. Kemono no Sōja

The first volume of Kemono no Sōja aka 獣の奏者 aka "The Beast Player" has appeared in English. What worries me is that the Japanese version was only 319 pages long while the English translation is 508 pages long. According to Wikipedia, the first two volumes were released on the same day, 2006-11-21, so I wonder if the English version may be an omnibus edition of the first 2 novels. At first glance, I find it unlikely it's the two volumes combined, based mainly on the fact that the first two volumes in Japanese had 319 and 415 pages, respectively. That seems like an awful lot of content to condense down to that few of pages. I'll see if I can find any way to look inside the book. Yen On - 2018-07-06

Unfortunately, the security revamp consumed most of my ISFDB time in June. As a result, Fixer has been complaining that I am behind on his ISBNs for some time now. I am trying to catch up, but it's a daunting task, especially considering the time of the year: August-October is traditionally the busiest season in the publishing world.

In addition, the light novel publisher Yen On has been experiencing technical issues for the last year or so. Some ISBNs have been abruptly cancelled and some cover art was replaced prior to publication. For these reasons I have been holding Fixer-identified Yen On ISBN for the last few months. Almost all of them (41) appear to be stable now, so I have taken the liberty of formatting them in human-readable format and adding the resulting list to the "Fixer" section of your User page. Hopefully you don't mind and will be able to enter them at some future point. (Please note that at least 3 Amazon covers still say "Cover not final" months after publication.) TIA! Translation help

Sorry to intrude with a non-literary translation request.

I volunteer with a charity that sells donated books and part of our operation has a half dozen of us working in the warehouse. There is a game called Sokoban, which I've heard is a translation of warehouseman. Is this true? Would we each be a sokoban or would we be collectively known as sokoban? 倉庫番 (Sōkoban) is something like "warehouseman" or "storekeeper" ("store" in the sense of "storehouse"). You can use it as a plural, though if you want to be explicit about there being more than one, you can used "sōkoban-tachi". In your verified East of the Sun and West of the Moon, Dasent's middle name is spelled as "Webb" vs. the actual "Webbe". There is this note on the publication page:

Per the preface, the original stories come from "Norske Folkeeventyr", by Asbjörnsen and Moe, and were translated by Sir G. W. Dasent in his "Popular Tales from the Norse". "The Three Princesses in the Blue Mountains" was translated by David Nutt, and "Prince Lindworm" was "newly translated for this volume". No translator is given for the Lindworm story.

Hi. You verified one undated copy P554897 as Harper & Row, ISBN 0-06-440061-1, with notes on the three volumes and on the box. Please check when convenient:

• Does your copy match the 3 images that Amazon now displays for ISBN 006440062X, other than ISBN "61-1" versus "62-X" on the bottom right back corner of the box? (For instance, see 006440062X at Amazon US but UK and CA sites show the same images, altho other data differ.)

To answer your questions:

• The ISBN doesn't match, the "Harper & Row" is at the base of the individual book spines, and there's no trophy logo at the tops of the spines. The front and back cover of the box look just like the ones I have, outside of those things.
• The back spine of the box states the author name at the top, the individual titles in the middle, and "Harper & Row" at the bottom. It also lists the illustrators for each volume: Garth Williams for Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little, and Edward Frascino for The Trumpet of the Swan.

Hi -- in your verified publication Dead Men Don't Cry, you have the story "The Breath of Heaven" noted as a novelette. It is also online, where it is 6,500 words long, and has the note that it "first appeared in The Sword Review in 2007." Could you take another look at the book and see if it says anything about a prior publication, and if the text is the same as the online one? Fixer has found a new Japanese author, Kenji Miyazawa. It looks like we have a number of other Kenjis who may need additional TLC: Kenji Siratori, Kenji Sakurai, and Kenji Matsuzaki. CreateSpace as publisher

I see that you have CreateSpace listed as the publisher of Among the Shadows. Is that actually correct? Usually, books that the Amazon website lists as "by CreateSpace" have another publisher name given when you look inside the book. I can only recall one book ever where the self-publishing author credited CreateSpace. The Look Inside of the ebook version shows no publisher name at all in Among the Shadows so if that's true of the print version too, we'd give the editors as publisher (so to speak) "Demitria Lunetta, Kate Karyus Quinn, and Mindy McGinnis."
