Welcome!

Hello, Nemelchelovek, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 09:05, 22 November 2017 (EST)

These I Know by Heart

I have accepted your edits to These I Know by Heart, but had to make a couple of changes to conform to ISFDB conventions:

  • Your moderator notes says "am updating the contents based on the TOC". We use the title pages as our source, not the TOC. Usually these agree, but often they don't. Please double check each story's title page to ensure the title and page number are correct. I recognize this is a bit more tedious, but it is also more accurate from a bibliographic point of view.
  • The OCLC number should not have been removed as we link to external databases (see this page for ones we support). However, the ISFDB software has been updated since that pub was first entered. External ids now go into their own section. I have updated the pub to put the OCLC number into the correct field.
  • We don't index Acknowledgments and some other miscellaneous contents (see this page) for details). I have removed it from the pub.
  • Since you have the pub, please verify it. This will let people know that someone has checked the record against the pub. If you verify it before you submit your edits, that will show up when your edits are moderated and you will then not need to state it in the moderator notes.
  • You changed the title date to '2001-00-00', but left the pub date as '2001-11-00'. These are separate fields & need to be updated separately. I assume the copyright page only has a year and not a more specific statement? In such cases, we will use secondary sources (with a sourcing statement) to add a more specific date.

We do appreciate your submission. ISFDB has some conventions that need learning, but everything should be in the help links in the welcome message above. We hope you will continue to contribute. And please let us know if you have any questions (ISFDB:Help desk is a good resource for asking). -- JLaTondre (talk) 09:39, 22 November 2017 (EST)

Phoenix

I accepted you addition of Phoenix, bit made some changes:

  • For common titles like "Introduction", we enter the title exactly as given on the title page, but then add the pub name in paragraph. So it would be "Introduction (Phoenix)".
  • ISBN-10s were only used through 2007. Books after that used ISBN-13. We enter the record with the correct format for the pub (and the software will create the other).
  • To link toe Google images properly, the link needs to be edited to remove all the stuff between the under scores. So "51kPL3fzeRL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg" becomes "51kPL3fzeRL.jpg"
  • While the pub notes should state the source, I edited them to be more concise and non-first person.
  • You only need to enter a transliterated title if there is non-Latin characters in the original.

It may seem like a lot of comments on your edits, but you are actually doing very well for your first time. Thanks for contributing! -- JLaTondre (talk) 09:59, 22 November 2017 (EST)

Thank you!
