Welcome!

Hello, Mike-resnick, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!Kraang 02:58, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Submissions on hold

Hope you find this message. I have your submissions on hold. The way they are entered is not likely to result in the creation of the titles as you intended. The stories need to be inside a publication but in both cases there are some other problems. I think this one is a story that was recently sold to Asimov's. Can we wait until it's actually published? We generally keep current issues of the major magazines fairly well up to date. Idle Roomer was published on the Clarkesworld webzine. We still don't accept webzine submissions, especially after the Helix debacle, but I am going to check with others and see if they think it is OK to enter individual stories from webzines. The process of doing so takes a couple of intermediate steps. I wish everybody published webzines in downloadable formats as is done for Jim Baen's Universe. You can reply on this page.--swfritter 23:14, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Since there was no response on the wiki, I sent an email to the submitter. Both submissions were rejected - one because the story submitted was added when Clarkesworld was added and one because it is a story that has been sold but not yet published.--swfritter 22:21, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Text of email concerning submissions: First the bad news. I have rejected you two submissions. But the good news is that I have managed to add the entire Clarkesworld webzine data so now your "Idle Roomer" is in the database. For many and various reasons (say the disappeared Helix for one) we do not usually enter webzines. The Clarkesworld Hugo nomination was the basis for the argument to include it. I am also rejecting the "Soulmates" submission. We are actually doing a good job of adding data for the three major print pubs so it should show up when it is published.--swfritter 22:29, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
