Nightmares and Geezenstacks

I accepted the submission updating this pub but had to revert the cover artist credit back to Hieronymus Bosch. Adding "/unknown" to the end of the field creates a new artist by the name of "Hieronymous Bosch/unknown". That's how entry fields for databases work. Because the artist who adapted the cover is unknown there is no way to credit him than to mention it in the notes (as you did). If he were known, upon editing the publication, you can add another cover artist by clicking the button which will open another field. Remember each field is for only one person (or title, publisher, date, etc.) If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to use the links in the welcome above. Slater’s Planet

I approved the addition of Slater’s Planet but changed the binding from "mass market paperback" to "pb" per Template:PublicationFields:PubFormat, inserted a "#" in front of the P026-N per Template:PublicationFields:ISBN, changed the price from ".95" to "$0.95" per Template:PublicationFields:Price. You may want to review Help:Screen:EditPub, and deleted "uncredited" for the artist per Template:PublicationFields:Artist. There is an easier to assimilate version of the publication entry help under Help:Getting Started.

If you are entering this record from a secondary source rather than the publication itself then please note that. I'm assuming you have a copy and so added a note that the cover artist is not credited. Grendel

You give both Murray Tinkelman and Emil Antonucci in the cover artist field of this pub, but note that the cover is by Tinkelman and the interior art is by Antonucci. If this is true, only Tinkelman's name should be in the cover artist field. Mhhutchins 18:44, 6 May 2011 (UTC)

The Twenty-One Balloons

I've accepted the submission adding this publication to the title but have made some changes in order for it to comply with ISFDB standards.

  • The publisher field was changed to "Dell Yearling". Even though the corporate name is Dell Publications, Dell Yearling was the imprint and goes in the publisher field. In some circumstances, we include both imprint and publisher as in "Del Rey / Ballantine", but in this case it would be redundant to list the book as published by "Dell Yearling / Dell Publications" although that's officially the publisher.
  • I removed "Dell Yearling" from the publication series field. This field is used for series created by the publisher in order to market a number of titles which are otherwise unrelated. For example, the Ballantine Adult Fantasy series or Avon's SF Rediscovery series. A publication series should not be confused with a title series, such as Star Wars or Dune. I also removed "0010-0014" from the publication series field as well. Where did that number come from?
  • Trade paperbacks (softcover books taller than 18cm) are entered as "tp" so I corrected that field.
  • If a book does not have an ISBN, we enter the catalog number in the "ISBN/Catalog #" field with a number sign in front to make sure users know it's a catalog number and not an ISBN. So I changed "440-09183" to "#440-09183".
  • The price field requires a currency. I'm assuming this is a US publication, so I added the US dollar sign before the price, changing "1.95" to "$1.95"

All of these changes are based on standards outlined in this help page. I would suggest reading this page, and bookmarking it. Almost everything you need to know about adding records or updating them can be found on this page. Thanks for contributing. (BTW, please respond to messages left on your talk page by clicking on the [edit] link to the right of the message and then entering your response in the dialog box, adding a colon before the first sentence to separate it from the previous message. This avoids the ping-pong effect of responding on the talk page of the person who left the message and the back-and-forth communication that can cause much confusion. Again, thanks.) The Challenge of Aab

Hi. I accepted your submission for The Challenge of Aab, but I made a couple of changes to it you should be aware of:

  • I changed the combination of publisher "Dell" plus publication series "Yearling" into a "Dell Yearling" publisher credit, to be consistent with what we've done with all of the Yearling books.
  • I normalized the price from "95c" to our standard format "$0.95".
  • You provided a link to Amazon's product page as the image URL, which doesn't work. It has to be a link to the image itself. I found the proper link and replaced it.

We also now have a handy "External IDs" mechanism that, among other things, handles Amazon's ASINs. So I put the ASIN from this there. That ends up providing the link the product page.

The Craft of Science Fiction cover link + verification

Hi again. Two things:

  1. I accepted your submission updating The Craft of Science Fiction, but in it you provided the AbeBooks product page URL as the URL for the cover image. As I mentioned in my other note, that doesn't work -- it needs to be a link to the image -- and in this case we also do not have permission to link to images hosted on AbeBooks.com, so even if it had been a link to their image I wouldn't have been able to accept it. I poked around and found what looks like the same image on Amazon, where we do have linking permission, so I changed it to use that. Please review and make sure it matches your book's cover.
  2. Since you have a copy of this book, please consider doing a "Primary Verification" of it. This helps us know that the data in the record has been compared against the actual book. To do that, click on the above link, and in the Editing Tools menu at the left click "Verify This Pub". Then in the top section choose either "Primary Verification" if you have the book permanently or "Transient Verification" if you only have the book temporarily.

The King's Indian

Hi, I just added Interior Art for Herbert L. Finck in your verified copy of The King's Indian. Does the book really have two covers, or did you try to add the interior art in a cover art field?
