Welcome!

Hello, Kholburn, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 12:55, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

The Council of Elders & The Signbearers

I have accepted your additions of The Council of Elders and The Signbearers, but I had to make changes to bring it in line with ISFDB standards:

  • Binding: You entered "POD paperback" for this field. We use a specific set of values. I changed it to "tp" (for trade paperback) based on the dimensions provided by Lulu.
  • ISBN: The ISBN should be entered as just the number.
  • ISFDB differentiates between title series and publication series. This help page provides more details, but "Zaddik (prequel)" is a title (or regular) series and that is entered in the title record, not the publication record. A publication series is used by publishers for marketing and typically has very different books in it (Ballantine Adult Fantasy for example). Unfortunately, a new title record is not created until after a new publication is accepted. Therefore, it is a two step process for a new publication: you have to enter the publication, wait for it to be accepted, and then edit the title record to add the title series. I have added it to the books' title records.
  • Cover Image: The publisher is not one the sites that has given us explicit permission to link to their images (see Help:Screen:EditPub#ImageURL). As such, I removed the image link. You can either find an alternative cover or follow the instructions given on the help screen for requesting permission to use that site's images.
  • Source: You should list the source of the information. If you have a copy of the book and plan on verifying it, you can add a note to that affect in the note to moderator box when submitting. If you don't have the book, then you should state your source in the notes box. Since it was not clear from your submittal, I added a note sourcing the publisher's website & Lulu. If you verify the book, you can remove that note.
  • Image URL: The image URL was a link to the Amazon page on the book, not the Amazon image of the book.

The ISFDB has a number of conventions and it can take a bit to become familiar with all of them. I encourage you to read through the help (see links in welcome message above). Also, feel free to ask questions (either here in response to this or if a new topic you can post questions at the ISFDB:Help desk‎). We appreciate your contribution. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 22:14, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
