Welcome!
Hello, Karswell, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- Help pages
- Field-by-field guide to entering new publications into the database
- Help:Getting Started
- What the ISFDB Wiki is for
- FAQ
- Wiki editing help - Tips on how to use the wiki-specific features when editing wiki pages.
- Wiki Conventions - How things are usually done on this wiki.
- Help:How to upload images to the ISFDB wiki
Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.
Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.
I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 20:34, 14 May 2018 (EDT)
We Are The Martians: The Legacy of Nigel Kneale
I have rejected your addition of We Are The Martians: The Legacy of Nigel Kneale as the book is already in our database here. It is good practice to search by ISBN prior to adding a new publication. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 20:34, 14 May 2018 (EDT)
I have entered your interview as an essay in the publication. We only record actual interviews for interviews of book authors. The interview record type will create new author records for the interviewee(s) and as neither of these are authors, they should not have a record. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 20:45, 14 May 2018 (EDT)
Adding cover scans
Hi, be sure to have read this before you enter a new publication of which you want to have an external scan. It is better to scan your own copy and add it afterwards as some external sources (e.g. Amazon) may switch their version in the future to a version that won't be yours. As it stands I must reject your present submissions (I will let one remain, but without the link to a site for which we do not have permission to show the cover.--Dirk P Broer 05:05, 15 May 2018 (EDT)
Your recent submissions for addition of publications
Sorry to say: it seems those are ineligible, as per our Rules of Acquisition, so I've put them on hold. Some previous additions seem to have been approved accidentally, because they were submitted as anthologies; they appear to be in fact NONFICTION about movies. I'll wait a short while for an answer. - More investigation shows that my assumption is right, and those titles have, alas, no place here in this db about speculative fiction.
- Our policy for The Rondo Hatton Horror Awards is to usually not include them, as they are primarily awards for films, and most of them are not listed by ISFDB. Stonecreek 14:13, 17 May 2018 (EDT)
