Welcome!

Hello, Jwkbooks, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! --MartyD 22:20, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

Beasts submissions

Hi, and welcome. I have a couple of questions about your Beasts submissions, which I have on hold:

First, there are two submissions, and it looks like the only difference is the price (£8.85 on one and £8.95 on the other). Did you mean the second submission to correct the price on the first one, or do you mean to record two different editions?

Second, the ISBN on the submissions, 0-86391-026-3, is flagged as invalid (which often means a digit is wrong or two digits are transposed). Would you double-check and see if it's correctly entered or should be something else? If that is the way it is shown in/on the book, then it's fine (we'll just add a "#" on the front and a note that the invalid ISBN is as the publication has it).

Please reply right here -- I will be watching this page. You can indent your responses by adding a colon (":") at the front of each block of text (one colon per indentation level). You don't need to redo anything; I will handle the submissions according to what you tell me. Thanks, and thank you for contributing. --MartyD 22:27, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

First, my mistake, 8.95 is correct, I meant to correct my entry, not duplicate it. And second, the ISBN is right off the copyright page. I am a book dealer and use the site for reference and am more than happy to make corrections/additions. I work quite closely with L.W. Currey who is the father of science fiction and fantasy bibliography. John Knott (who is not sure if he is replying correctly-I wasn't sure if I was to go to edit this page or add comment to discussion)
Perfect, thanks, and good to have you. When an ISBN is invalid, we treat is as a catalog number and put a "#" at the beginning. I don't like to have invalid ISBNs floating around, so I will add that and the note when I accept your submission. Since the two are duplicates, I'll reject the one with the incorrect price and accept the other. Thanks, and sorry about the delay in getting this processed -- I am out of town with access more sporadic than usual. --MartyD 11:05, 10 June 2016 (UTC)

The Broken Fang and Other Experiences of a Specialist in Spooks

Regarding your question here: Would you like to try to add it (tip: Clone Publication in the left menu is your best friend for this kind of cases) or do you want me to add it? :) Annie (talk) 21:56, 6 February 2024 (EST)

Please go ahead and make changes. I don't have time or the inclination to learn your system edits but I am more than happy to contribute new data and/or corrections. I am an active bookseller with much to catalog. Thank you. Jwkbooks (talk) 16:52, 16 February 2024 (EST)
