Welcome!

Hello, Julirew, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Hauck 11:11, 23 March 2018 (EDT)

Monstrosities

Hello, I'm sorry but I had to reject your submission as it would have been necessary to reconstruct nearly entirely as not much of it was salvageable. There were the folling problems:

  • erratic line breaks in the synopsis.
  • "Third Flatiron Anthologies" is not a title series but a publication series.
  • the number of pages is meaningless for an ebook, the field should be left void.
  • for the cover image, we're not allowed to deeplink to the specified website.
  • most importantly, each of the stories must be described individually (with its own title, its own author and its own type, POEM for Bryant's text) and not in a single line for all.

You may use this record for a tp as a guide. IMHO you can try your hand by entering only the skeleton of the anthology, then fill the contents. Are you ready to try? Hauck 11:23, 23 March 2018 (EDT)

The Adventures of Mountain Ma'am

I accepted your edits, but made a couple of changes:

  • The ISBN listed is for the print version. I removed it from the ebook version.
  • I changed the format from "paperback" to "tp". The ISFDB uses a specific set of values. I used "tp" (for trade paperback) based on the dimensions supplied by Amazon.

Yes, please list the individual stories. You should add them to the print version (since it is the first one published) and then once accepted, import them into the ebook version. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:49, 19 April 2018 (EDT)

The Adventures of Mountain Ma'am

Hello,

I have your update on hold. There are no changes in any field. What are you trying to change? Thanks! Annie 13:21, 20 April 2018 (EDT)

Looks like you submitted this one by mistake so I will cancel it. I approved your second submission and did one change: we regularize the case for titles so "By" is changed to "by" in "Raised by Wolves". The complete rules are here but the short version is that everything that does not start the title needs to be capitalized except for "and", "or", "the", "a", "an", "for", "of", "in", "on", "by", "at", "from", "with", and "to". Thanks for your help, just getting started as a user. Julirew 16:34, 21 April 2018 (EDT)
You are doing fine. :) When you submit something by mistake, you can cancel it from your Pending list - this way you won't end up with a moderator approving by mistake or wondering what you are trying to do. Annie 16:56, 21 April 2018 (EDT)

Hidden Histories

Hi, How to add stories to Hidden Histories? From the left menu (the grey rectangle) choose 'Edit this Pub'. This will bring you to this screen. To add stories, under 'Regular Title' click the 'Add Title' button. Default will be 'Shortfiction' with no length, but you can change both content and length.--Dirk P Broer 17:19, 6 May 2019 (EDT)

To use information (contents) of an existing publication ...

... is quite easy by clicking on the editing tool 'Clone This Pub'. Hope that helps, Stonecreek 13:23, 7 May 2019 (EDT)

Got it, thanks!

Flight

Hi. Just a note that your submission of Flight is OK but for two minor errors (which I've corrected for you): paperbacks that are at least 7.25" tall are recorded as tp, not pb (this one's 9" per Amazon), and, linking to an Amazon cover is done by selecting the large image of the front cover, right clicking on it and selecting 'copy image address', and pasting that into the Image URL field. Oh, and would you mind reviewing each new author and update at least the author's language (presumably all English I'd think?) and perhaps add other information that's publicly available? That would be appreciated. Regards, MagicUnk 18:17, 21 February 2020 (EST)

Aaaand ooops, forgot a third one :). For an ANTHOLOGY, only the editors of said anthology should be entered, not all author's as you've done (I know, it's confusing that the New Anthology form says Author, doesn't it? :) - corrected that too for you :) MagicUnk 18:22, 21 February 2020 (EST)

Things with Feathers

I have had to reject this submission. Only the editor belongs on the anthology line. To enter the contents of the anthology, click the "Add Title" below the anthology line. This will create a new content line in which you enter the story title and author(s). Repeat for all stories in the book. Hopefully that makes sense, but please ask questions (you can post here or at ISFDB:Help desk) if not. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 13:01, 21 November 2021 (EST)
