Welcome!

Hello, JohnCarter, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! MagicUnk 14:14, 23 September 2020 (EDT)

Race Against Time

Hello. Unfortunately I've had to reject your submission because only the two first printings are confirmed to be in the same year, and since this is the third printing that you wanted to update, not the second. Note that incidentally it is likely that this record's the second printing so its printing date should likely to be updated to 1985-10-00. Do you happen to have that book, or the one with the printer's key 0 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 instead? If it's the former, do check in with one of the still active PV's (MartyD) and confirm he's OK with the date update as well (as he has the book too).
As you may have guessed, editing the ISFDB needs some learning. The links in the Welcome message above are a great starting point. If you consider to continue to contribute (we can always use new editors), do check them out. Also, do not hesitate to ask questions over at the Help Desk or Community Portal. There are always friendly moderators around that are more than happy to answer any question you may have. Regards, MagicUnk 14:25, 23 September 2020 (EDT)

On the Rocks

Hello. A lot of issues with your submission. I've accepted it, and made the following changes:

  • Regularized title capitalization (The --> the)
  • Synopsis is not used for tagging. I removed it.
  • Title note is not used for reference to publication data source. This kind of info goes into the publication notes field instead. I've moved it to pub notes.
  • Page numbers are not recorded for ebooks (page numbers tend to be meaningless for ebooks as they can differ depending on the formatting and/or reader). I've removed it.
  • Removed bogus ISBN
  • Added URL for the image (click the cover, then right-click on the Amazon cover and select 'copy link address', and remove formatting from the URL if needed)
  • I couldn't unearth the price, so I've removed it from the record. --> if you do have the source of the price, feel free to submit an edit, and do not forget to clearly specify where you got the data from.
  • Added the ASIN in the external ID multifield
