Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

Linking images to the publication records

Thanks for uploading cover images to the ISFDB wiki. The next step is to link those images to the records of the books for which these are the covers. As the instructions (step 6) explain:

Once the file has been uploaded, the image's wiki page will appear. In order to get the URL (address) for the image you just uploaded, left click anywhere on the image and copy the URL from your browser's address window. (Or right click on the image and choose "Copy Image Location".) If you're adding a cover image to a pub record, this is the URL which you would enter into the pub record's "Image URL" field.

So once you have the image's URL, go back to the pub record (it's linked on the image's wiki page) and then click the "Edit This Pub" link under the Editing Tools menu. This opens up an edit page. Under the Publication Metadata section, there's a field labeled "Image URL:" Enter the URL of the image you uploaded into this field, and then click on the "Submit Data" button at the bottom of the page. Once the submission has been moderated the cover image will be linked to the publication record. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 18:58, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Piper's Paratime

I'm holding your submission to add the cover artist credit for this edition. Because the record states that the cover is uncredited, we will need to record the source for the credit in the note field. Also, because this is primary verified (see the link in the Welcome section above), you should notify the primary verifier of the change in the record. I'll do that for you if you can give me your source. You can respond to this message by clicking the [edit] link to the right, enter you response in the dialog window that opens, then end with four tildes (~~~~) which will sign and date the message. I have the submission to remove the link to the corrobrating source for the cover art credit. I'm not sure why you want to do this. Please explain. Mhhutchins 05:34, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

From the Depths

We'll need a little more than 'from what I've seen'! ;-)) Pocket doesn't/didn't just publish SF, so it's going to be difficult to prove or disprove the assertion. Even just taking the next ISBN in sequence [another Trek book] jumped ahead to December 1994! As I noted, I can confirm it's the last Trek book with the border, but it's a leap to make that for all Pocket books. --~ Bill, Bluesman 04:27, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
Oh, I see. Well, "As far as I know" it's the last "Pocket Star Trek" book with a border, at least to date. I'll be more careful with my suggestions next time! Jeffrey 04:35, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
That design element was created for the Timescape imprint and first used in August 1981. The first Star Trek book published after the design's implementation was in October 1981 (#3 in the Pocket Books Star Trek series). The design was used on all subsequent Timescape paperbacks until the imprint's demise in 1984. It just so happened that the last Timescape paperback was also a Star Trek novel. And even though the imprint was history, the Star Trek series continued to use the design...until the novel you're referring to was published in 1993. BTW, why call it a "double squared ring"? There's three rings. I would call it a "three-line rounded-square". If the rings were solid, I'd understand the double part, but the artwork was always visible through the three rings. Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Hello!

When I try to log in to edit the actual page for the above two novelisations, it says I have a bad user name,but I can log in here.

Anyway, the covers for the above two named novelisations are posters for the movies, which were done by Bob Peake. Here's a link:

The database has a separate log-in from the wiki. Go to http://www.isfdb.org, and if that doesn't show you're logged in, you can't edit the database. Click on the Log In link. Mhhutchins 18:34, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
Just checked the database and Bob Peak (without an "e") is credited for the covers of those two works. Mhhutchins 18:38, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

There is a catch. The help page states: "All lower case works fine on the wiki but when you log into the ISFDB database at www.isfdb.org it'll only work if the first character is upper case." Try again? --Willem H. 08:39, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
